I am 100% satisfied with this set. A "greatist hits" if you will of some of the best known jazz artists. The songs are just as the title says....smooth. Only two vocals on the entire set, so if you like the easy instrumental jazz, go to your music store and grab this set.

SMOOTH!,

I am one who definately does not like much in the way of jazz generally speaking. But this collection is different and I really enjoy it. Many many talented artists, many of whom I've never heard before but got the opportunity to do so with this collection. My absolute favorite track is Bradley Joseph's "Blue Rock Road". It is just plain fun, upbeat, and a little jazzy. He is an excellent pianist/keyboardist and more of his albums I'll definately have in the near future!

Don't buy this thinking it is Jazz. It is Smooth Jazz albeit more the high side of it. Bordering New Age a little bit, but definitely not New Age. It is to be classified as Smooth Jazz. But I give it Five Stars because I like both New Age and Smooth Jazz. I do not like comtemporary Jazz nor do I have a like for Blues. Some reviewer called it elevator music. While I don't have a severe dislike of elevator music, I would not buy elevator music and this Narada Smooth Jazz is NOT elevator music. My favorite selections from Disc one are tracks 7,9,10,11,13, and 14, to be honest. What is interesting is that Smooth Jazz is a sound that is different from Jazz. And Jazz lovers typically do not like Smooth Jazz and the reverse can be true. To each their own.

This is easily the best example of smooth jazz I've heard anywhere. Both disks are simply outstanding. The pieces are emotionally involving, varied, creative, wonderfully composed and produced, and almost all songs possess a central melody that in my opinion is too often missing in jazz, smooth or not. I dearly wish I could find more albums like this one, but other Narada fare seems a bit less jazzy and more new age than I want. In summary, this is the best instrumental album that I own.

Narada Smooth Jazz,
By Paul Thompson (Australia) - See all my reviews

I purchased this CD based on the previous 5 star recommendations at Amazon for this CD , but I have unfortunately discovered they were extremely misleading . I take the time to write this brief review so that others get both sides of the story . Firstly , it doesnt even remotely resemble jazz ! Secondly , its not far off being mistaken for the ordinary bland brand of elevator music , musak . Many tracks have repetitive beat machine drums , its all tacky to say the least . Im seriously , using it as a frisbee only . Hope this helps as alternative review to the two 5 star ones posted already . I wish someone would have written an honest appraisal to save me the trouble . The worst double CD I have ever purchased .
