Format: Hardcover
This edited collection of essays is a timely addition to the ongoing debates and discussions regarding the drug wars, both Mexican and American, that are currently getting so much national and international attention. It tackles problems such as the strategic threat to the entire western hemisphere, the pervasiveness of corruption, the shocking extent of extreme violence within Mexico, comparative analyses with regards to traditional drug war policies and their effectiveness in other regions of the world, implications of the narco-cultura within Mexican society, and an eye-opening discussion of right and left leaning American political policies. Concluding with an opinion (although admitedly a 'dissenting analysis'),the final essay provides some insightful recommendations for reversing the failures of traditional drug war policies and the punitive paradigm with a blending of the best examples of strategies geared toward dealing with drug supply and demand.
