A solo performer for most of her life, Paula now embarks on a new journey and expands her musical horizons to include a multitude of talent. The foundation of her band includes drummer Joey Peters of Grant Lee Buffalo, guitarist Ty Stevens of Mandy Moore, and bassist Tad Wadhams of Cheryl Crow and Bernie Taupin. Additional musicians on the "Narrow Road" CD are Rami Jaffee & Ben Peeler of The Wallflowers, Cameron Stone, Tim Pierce, and Robert Powell. The production, engineering and mixing were handled by Ross Hogarth, whose credits include Shawn Colvin, Black Crowes, REM, Keb Mos 1998 Grammy Award winning record "Slow Down" and Jewels "Spirit."
Born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area, Paula grew up in a home filled with an array of musical styles. As a child, she was most touched by the folk singers and lyrical storytellers that were before her time. As a young teenager she was influenced by the likes of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, and by her late teens she had taught herself to play guitar and was performing whenever and wherever she could.
In 1990 she began working with Raz Kennedy, one of the original members of Bobby McFerrins a cappella group, "Voicestra." Here she learned invaluable vocal technique and began writing songs with a voice of a different nature. Singing and Co-writing with Raz proved to be a pivotal point in her career and opened the door to what is now her very unique style of music.
Raz introduced Paula to guitarist Danny Heines who taught her about open tunings and encouraged her to not be afraid to use the guitar as a percussive as well as melodic instrument. These tunings gave her voice the permission it needed to stretch into new musical dimensions. Paula the singer songwriter would never be the same.
Paula is performing at a wide variety of venues both solo and with her band. For latest news, projects and events, please visit her website.

I love this CD! I think her voice is what captured me and drew me in. The music and the lyrics and very "catchy". Such an array of instruments and moods. I find myself humming the songs even throughout the day. Look forward to seeing her live!!

The title hit is definately great. Rocks with a bit more edge than I expected. There are other goodies on the album too.. Great for all - really. The kids loved it, the thanksgiving crowd, the hipsters, moms - I've tested it - almost everyone really likes songs on this CD. Looking forward to the next release already.Buy one....(...)

Paula Brisker articulates her thoughtful songs with conviction and precision. The production is lush yet understated and honest. Narrow Road is an album I'll listen to tomorrow and years in the future.- Chuck Fisher, multimedia producer-engineer and musician -
