The third book in the Nikki Sheridan series (following Mysterious Love, Focus on the Family, 1996) brings readers up to date on a teenager with some very adult problems. An unplanned pregnancy during Nikki's junior year in high school resulted in her boyfriend's abandonment of her and her decision to give up her baby for adoption, a choice she still finds difficult to accept. A newfound belief in God gives Nikki some comfort, though she often finds people, especially those her own age, uncomfortable with her Christianity. To give her a break from her troubled life, Nikki's aunt Marta invites her to California, where she finds herself drawn into the lives of a teenaged illegal immigrant named Antonio and his little sister Marianna. While some readers may be turned off by the teenagers as lead characters, the suspense is solid. The novel may find its widest audience in the YA section of the library.

Shirley Brinkerhoff is the author of THE NIKKI SHERIDAN SERIES as well as Missionary at Home. She holds a master's degree from Western Michigan University, a bachelor's from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, and received the Alpha Award at the 1994 Sandy Cove Writer's Conference. I bought the complete Nikki Sheridan series for my daughter because we couldn't find it in South-Africa. It was listed as 2nd hand books. What a great surprise we had when we received the parcel. The books were all in excellent condition. You can trust the ratings given for books. Even the one book that had a rating of good, was in exceptional condition. Thank you for making it so easy.

This is the first book of the Focus on the Family Series. I absoleutly loved it and would recommend it to the older teen group (14-17). The girl really learns what it means to trust in God and give your heart out to him. Later on, she is faced with a very difficult Christian decision: after getting pregnant, should she give up the baby or have an abortion? This book is great and I am looking forward to seeing more of Shirley Brinkerhoff's books out soon!
