About the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri (Mechanism). Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

A friend came over and saw me clinging to it, and called it my Bingo Book.

I was hesitant to buy this book, thinking it will be just another of those information books(from most series) which touches stuffs you already know.

I was hesitant to buy this book, thinking it will be just another of those information books(from most series) which touches stuffs you already know. Man, I was wrong. This book is thicker and a bit bigger than the usual Naruto manga. And the information inside are just amazing, it covers everything from Naruto manga #1-43. I will give you guys a short summary of what to expect:

Shinobi Data - shows every character in Naruto, what village they are from, their rank, skills, what significant things they did, etc. Most characters got 2 pages, but some got more.

Jutsu Data - lots of jutsu explained(with art of course).

Illustrations Data - sketches/blueprints of Naruto's creator, as well as a short story only found in this book.

Shinobi Facts - more data about important groups, events.

Naruto Dictionary - as it implies, dictionary of the terms in Naruto, as well as places and the likes.

Character Data - from height comparison to who belongs to which blood type, relationship charts, and more!

Reader Survey - survey from Shonen Jump Weekly, about questions like "who do you want to be a teacher?" to "favorite battles"... Its an interesting fact from other fans!

Konoha Collection - just random info you may or may not know, like how Naruto got his name. This one is scattered throughout the book.

The first few pages by the way is colored, and it says "Naruto Best Scene", I dont know who picked this(maybe Masashi himself), but yes, it shows some of the coolest scenes of the series.

Overall, I didnt regret buying this one bit. Again, I was a bit hesitant at first, but now, I can say it is money well spent.

This book contains a lot of information about individual characters and jutsu, as well as some fun facts. I enjoyed reading about the character's food likes and dislikes, their height, weight, interests, skills, and others. It also contains poll rankings, Q and A with the author, and a short comic. If you're an obsessive Naruto fan who wants to know everything about the Naruto world this is the book for you. There are a couple of mistakes I noticed though; overall it's great!

I have been watching and reading Naruto since I was a teenager (2004ish). I have read every chapter and watched every episode. I loved this book and appreciate that it was translated from the original Japanese into English. I loved reading all the different factoids about the different characters. The presentation is... interesting to say the least. It seems like it is appealing to the more mature audience like myself AND to the early teens now just getting into the series (and even younger). Some of the parts are just... stupid. I see how they would appeal to a younger crowd - like, who would kiss who kind of stuff and who would you want to make you a sandwich. I easily skipped over that stuff and found the book a great addition to my Naruto collection.

This is a great data book...just full of info on all of the characters and anything else you need to know about the Naruto manga and anime. All of the main characters are covered...with an almost overload on some. I do think that the book does need to be updated...it's info only goes to right after the Pervy Sage is killed...so a lot of the great scenes including the Pain arc are missing! Also, one of my favorite characters...Hinata...is given short shrift in this book. I think that after the Pain battle she became a lot more popular and needs much more attention in any data book that follows this one. But, this is a great book for anyone that is really into Naruto. Buy it and you can find out about all of the jutsu and history of the Leaf Village ninja.

My brother loved this book. I got it for him as a surprise present. It is black and white on the inside but has pictures and lots of information about Naruto Characters. I was afraid that if I got this book I might be getting a duplicate of something he already had because sometimes Naruto books come with multiple version book covers! This is though the only "Naruto: The Official Character Data Book" on Amazon. I am pleased with the speed with which Amazon sent my copy as well. With Amazon Prime, I got this in less than 2 days.

Book is full of info about the characters. I like how it lists where they came from and specific facts.
If you want to know more than what the cartoons have this is the book for you. The cover is color, the inside is black and white.
