3.0 out of 5 stars For every 'fix', a new problem March 26, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Edition:Limited
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
When Naruto Generations was announced and I saw the previews featuring some of my favorite characters and cool cutscenes, it was definitely something I was looking forward to.
I was even more impressed by the fact that in Generations they seemingly tried to address some problems in Naruto Shippuden Storms 2: online substitution spamming and the near uselessness of combo attacks for example.

Combo attacks (taijutsu to the fans) are now a much more significant piece of the action mainly because substitutions are now limited by a substitution bar, though they are easy to pull off.
However, this change is undermined by the simple fact that chakra dashing can be done at virtually anytime, meaning that even should you substitute, your opponent can chakra dash just as fast to your new location and continue his/her assault. A chakra dashing opponent can whittle down your Substitution bar in an instant, leaving you open to incredible amounts of damage. It takes getting use to and you'll usually find yourself either very pleased or very aggrivated, depending on whether you're the one with the empty Substitution bar.

The characters feel particularly unbalanced unfortunately. Several, like Danzo, Masked Man, Kisame, and oddly enough Part 1 Tenten as well, are so over-powered that you'll be running into those handful of characters a majority of the time online.

All the item collection is fun and the Story mode cuts out the QTE's and exploration found in Storm 2 and though I found Storm 2's QTE's to be a negligable experience, taking out the exploration completely does make the game feel a bit lacking.
Of course, both those things were replaced by fully animated cut scenes before and after every 'Tale' and all of them are pretty amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the price April 5, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The game is fun; the main difference between this and naruto ninja storm 2 is that there is no free roaming. Its more of a fighting game, and there is tons of characters. Characters from naruto and naruto shippuden. If anything is negative I would say to wait until the price is a bit cheaper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Naruto Fighting Title April 4, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360| Edition:Limited|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
If you have previous experience with the Ultimate Ninja Storm fighting games or the Naruto franchise in any capacity then this title won't blow you away. What it will do though is ensure you play this over any previously released Naruto fighter ever! It has almost every major character from the show excluding the Sound Four and has controls that are simple yet require incredible timing to be able to land moves properly. The games vast collection of characters, to amazing ultimate moves, to a much more directed story experience from the previous game, there are quite a few great things about Generations that make it stand out.

The one real problem I have with the game is the bosses. The amazing renders and events that occur in Ninja Storm 2 are completely absent. There is not a single piece like that in this game like fighting Itachi and mastering the event in a cinematic masterpiece that pulls you right back into the story you know and love from the manga and anime. This for me prevented it from being the one stop Naruto game and if I want to play the story mode I will generally go play the one in Ninja Storm 2 even though it can be incredibly tedious but the bosses are much better there.

The last thing I have to say is the game actually re-animates A LOT of scenes from the show and they looks drop dead gorgeous. Sasuke vs Naruto, Sasuke vs Itachi, Kakashi vs Zabuza, and many more. The best one by far is an imagining of The First Hokage vs Madara Uchiha. This may be the only time we ever see a full fight between them.

Overall, if you like Naruto or fun fighting games, check this out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Game March 21, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360| Edition:Limited|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This newest installment of Naruto is one of the best they have ever created. With a large assortment of characters to choose from (still wish they had Kushina as a character)and an equal number of ultimate jutsu to view, the game exceeds the previous Naruto games. The new battle system revolving around substitution bring intense battles. The only thing I miss though is clashing and wall battle that was in Naruto Storm 1. But other than that, the game has made a significant jump from Storm 2.

If you were a fan of Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, this game plays out practically the same way, only with a much larger roster. However, unlike Ultimate NInja Storm 2, this game lacks a Story mode that had the depth as other games in the series so far. The story mode is much like other fighting games, such as ones you'll see in Soul Calibur, in which you are given a few scripted fights against various characters with a few scenes from the anime along the way. Past that, the story mode is practically irrelevant once you clear through the few modes it offers. Primarily, all of your unlocking will be done in the Free Battle Mode, which includes a tournament mode and survival mode.

Anyways, if you're a fan of Naruto and you wanted to see more characters, this is the game for you. It's more of what Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 did well, but without the story mode. No more substitution jutsu spamming!
