A Spectacular Upgrade For A Spectacular Show,
By
This review is from: Naruto Shippuuden (OST) (Audio CD)
For those such as myself, who are avid fans of the Naruto series, you should be very familiar with the show, and the wonderful music behind it. One of the best parts about watching the anime (to me at least) is to experience the combination of good quality visuals, and stunning, emotional music that triggers so many emotions when you watch. Clearly, Toshira Masuda was doing something right, since he managed to put out 3 CDs of music from the show. Naruto Shippuuden, however, is not Masuda's work. When Naruto made the transition to Shippuuden, they changed a few things, most notably, the music. If you've heard the music from the old show, you know that it was medly of different sounds, ranging from rock type fight themes to somber, soothing japanese-esque flute and strings, to the comical (and sometimes annoying) themes. This CD is a bit different, more specifically, its very dark. I suppose the music is supposed to reflect the more mature turn that the series has taken on screen, and if so, Takanashi Yasuharu, the current composer, has done an outstanding job of finding the right sound for the right moment. There are an abundance of the soothing and somber japanese-esque type songs I talked about earlier that are extreamly pleasent for easy listening, and the action and suspense themes are all excellent. Even if your not a fan of Naruto, this is something worth adding to your music library if you have a taste for scores, or just world music in general. The only downside to this is that its so freakin' hard to come by, especially at a decent price. I was lucky enough to find it in a used CD store for $20 (the guy had no idea how much it goes for everywhere else). If you have the dough to blow, I say go for it, you wont be disapointed.

The Feelings of Shippuden Set to Music,
By Meow.Meow.Chan (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Naruto Shippuuden (OST) (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of the Naruto series then you know that Naruto Shippuden is the second part of the popular anime that takes place when the ninja of the Leaf Village are a little older and a little more experienced. This soundtrack captures the more serious and even 'dark' tone of the Shippuden series.
Unlike the previous Naruto Soundtracks - this CD has more solemn and serious sounds. Comprising of 28 tracks, Naruto Shippuden OST is an intense mix of sad, angry, and emotional instrumentals. As to be expected, most of the tracks contain hints of tradition Japanese instruments. There are no vocals tracks on this CD. I recommend this CD for anyone who likes instrumental anime soundtracks or if you are looking for a great soundtrack to listen to as you read your favorite manga.
