About the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri ("Mechanism"). Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Embrace the Power of the Cursed Seal, April 2, 2009
By
This review is from: Naruto, Vol. 6: The Forest of Death (Paperback)
Orochimaru is a brilliantly conceived antagonist, one that's going to be around for a long time so get used to him. As Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura enter the Forest of Death little do they know that they their lives will forever change.

The true direction of this series is set in this novel. Naruto faces unstopable forces. Sasuke battles inner demons. Sakura discovers what it truly means to protect her comrades. I know I say this about nearly every manga I've read so far, but this manga continues to get better and better. The action and emotion drives me to consume these volumes like a man thirsts for water in a desert.

This review is from: Naruto, Vol. 6: The Forest of Death (Paperback)
I'm fairly new to Manga and Anime in general, however, Naruto has quickly become my favorite. The story is compelling, the characters are interesting, and the artwork is fantastic. There have been several times when the story has moved me to cheer, or laugh, or cry. I recommend this Manga (Naruto and Naruto Shippuden) for readers of all ages. I think everyone will enjoy watching Naruto grow.
