This review is from: New Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation Beginner Kit by Nasopure with 8 ounce bottle (Health and Beauty)
To start with, I am a person who had to have a really really expensive (very risky) surgery for a sinus issue. This nasal rinse system is fantastic. I used it after my surgery because I like how you regulate the pressure of the water through your nose. For starters, I prefer having to "place" the end of this nasal flusher gently to the nostril so it forms a complete gentle fit versus having to put the end of a ceramic neti pot spout up into the nostril to get the same seal/fit. If it is gently placed, there is no "closing" of the top as talked about in other reviews. I can see where you would want to apply pressure like that after using the ceramic neti pot, because you do have to have some minor pressure to fit the ceramic pot spout up into the nostril. However, that pressure is just not needed with this washer.
My 7 and 9 year old were able to have complete success within 2 tries of using the nasopure system for the first time and faithfully use it daily either in the shower or over the sink. I am a former ceramic neti pot user and find this system so much more relaxing to use with better results. For the person who wrote about getting water down the back of their throat...not sure how that only happens with just this product. The "k" sound needed to close the throat off while using a neti pot is the same action used for this product. Guessing if it happens with this, probably is happening with the neti pot as well? Also, there is no need to "have to" buy their saline packets as someone mentioned. The packets are there as a matter of convenience and a choice option. As a matter of fact all mine are still in a drawer for travel situations. I continue to use the very economical pharma grade salt you can purchase in bulk and mix my own solution. I use 1/4 tsp of neti pot salt to the 8-oz nasopure bottle of water...and it is perfect for our families needs. A spoon from Cuisipro Odd Size Measuring Spoon Set is a great addition to this washer (you can get these spoons on Amazon). I store my spoon with the salt, then all that needs to be done is to put in 2 scoops of salt in the bottle and fill with water to the fill line. Equally Himalayan Institute (also on Amazon) sells bulk pharma salt and one of their products comes with a measuring spoon within the jar of salt (which I also have). Both run about the same price so if you don't want the extra spoons in your kitchen, get the jar of replacement salt with the spoon in it and after that just purchase the neti salt that is packaged without the spoon at the lower price. All in all this is one of the best investments we have made as a family. One member travels quite a bit in and out of the airports..and with that all the crud from everywhere comes home too. When I consider what it has cost us in the past for medications and co-pays to be at the doctor all the time with sinus infections, allergy issues or upper respiratory crud...yah....now, I am a firm believer in the proactive habit of nasal cleansing as a preventative measure for so many areas in our well-being. Benefits of nasal washing listed below (as cited on [...] and [...] along with [...]) through an internet search: Daily practice improves both nasal and sinus health. Clears out sticky, thick mucus and helps reduce nasal congestion by thinning secretions. Allows the sinus cavities to drain freely so allergens, irritants, bacteria, viruses and contaminants can be eliminated. Helps prevent upper respiratory infections like the common cold. Reduces dependency on medications such as antibiotics, antihistamines, nasal steroids, decongestants and asthma medications. Relieves nasal dryness. Improves sense of smell. Improves sense of taste. Helps to treat sinusitis and rhinitis. Reduces allergic rhinitis. Reduces coughing and other symptoms of post-nasal drip. May reduce snoring. May reduce nose bleeds. Clears airways affected by nose woes associated with pregnancy and maturity. Helps alleviate breathing difficulties caused by medical conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis and many others. Cleanses the nasal tissues stressed by radiation therapy to the head and sinus area. Deeper, more relaxed breathing.

Initially, I thought this would be easier to use than my Neti Pot and provide more convenience. I figured I would be able to use it in the shower, no bending my neck and so on, as promoted by the inventor. However, after using both, I actually prefer the Neti Pot!
It is way easier to add salt to the Neti pot. On the other hand, it is almost mandatory to purchase the specifically designed packets of salt (an extra expense) that fit narrow opening of the Nasopure bottle. Whereas, Neti pots provide a wide opening to add plain old sea salt, done. I also get a better nostril seal with a Neti Pot, as oppose to the Nasopure. Finally, when rinsing with the Nasopure if one put to much pressure on the valve it will close, and that sucks.

This bottle makes washing your sinuses so easy! I use it in the shower. Even if not in the shower, because of the bottle design, you can use it over the sink with minimal spillage outside the sink (if at all!). Cudos on the bottle design! Wash your nose!

I'm no doctor this is just my feedback.
I was given a sample original blue Neti Pot made by NeilMed NeilMed Sinus Rinse - 2 Bottles - 250 Premixed Packets - Value Pack by my allergist. I often go in every 2 months (have to take time off from work), sick, clammy, runny nose, bronchitis, red sinus cavity, ear canal, and super red sore throat along with non-stop coughing all due to sinusitis' post nasal drip. I immediately felt a slight difference using an isotonic solution. Kept using the sample for 2 weeks and did on online search and found this. I like that I can make a bottle of this a week ahead and not making a new solution every time I use the original neti. I like the convenience, and it's more sanitary than the original neti-pot. The original neti-pot can go both ways with the water (eww!); like back washing!!! If you use the Nasopure right, you push water out one way. The salt/bi-carbonate stick that came along is more expensive than NeilMeds so I use NeilMeds salt/bi-carbonate solution instead. It works fine for me filling the salt and then, the water in. Would like them to partner with Vapur and make a collapsible one; although, the travel size 8oz. is fine, too. I don't use the oils that some are selling b/c my nose is super sensitive. I just want to keep it simple and Ph correctly. Knocking on wood, but so far I haven't had an allergy/cold/sinus episode. Not having to return to the Dr's office for heavy antihistamine and antibiotics is sweet!!! I tried both in the shower. For me, its just preference blowing my nose on a tissue rather than on me (+making sure I wash the goo off). Yuck! At first, using any neti-pot, its natural to feeling like ur in a pool and water goes up ur nose. As long u breathe through ur mouth, water is blocked naturally unless u start talking to ur spouse. I have swallowed some salt water, but its not as gross as swallowing sea water. Whenever, I have a scratchy throat, stuffy nose or feel like something isn't right, I use this with the hyper-tonic solution and all is well, for me (consult ur doctor and start with an isotonic solution). I was using it everyday at first and then my sinus re-adjusted itself i.e. became stronger more resilient; so now, I only use this every week or whenever I need to. (Or whenever someone bathe themselves w/ a bottle of Chanel perfume, and I'm stuck in an elevator with their stench. LOL!) I haven't felt this great about my nose in about 15 years right before I started to have allergies. I also use 60 count OccuFresh OcuFresh Eye Wash 6 ea, just pharma grade water and salt, to wash out environmental eye pollutants as well. Good Luck!

As someone who has used a Neti pot for a long time, I was skeptical about this product. I liked the idea of not having to bend my neck. But this product has too many problems for me to continue using it.
The biggest difference between a Neti pot and Nasopure is the method of irrigation. When using a Neti pot, gravity works in your favor. Nasopure works by applying pressure to the bottle to force water up the nose. Too often I had water coming down the back of my throat. While it was convienent to have a bottle that closes and one you can shake to dissolve the salt, it wasn't worth the added effort of applying pressure to the bottle constantly. Furthermore, as the water runs out, you force air into your nose. This makes for a very unpleasant experience. The product is innovative, but does not really provide any real benefit over a neti pot.

I like the design of this bottle as it helps to direct the flow of the irrigation into the sinus passages better because of the slight angle of the top of the bottle. This is very helpful if you suffer from chronic sinus infections as I do. Sharon Rasmussen

Not magic. But good,

I have had sinus issues all my life, including allergies and general stuffed-up nose issues. I have had to have surgery in the past to deal with my problems. After reading all the glowing reviews, I wanted to give the Neti pot a try. I figured that at the least it couldn't hurt.I picked this version mainly for the design. I know myself well enough to know that if something is inconvenient, then I probably won't keep up at it. I wanted a pot that was easy to use and that I could use in the shower. This design is perfect on both accounts. You don't have to do that awkward head-back bend thing to get the solution into your nasal passage. I buy the pre-measured saline mixtures, and they pour easily into the pot. I have been using it regularly for about a year now. I have heard all sorts of wonder stories about Neti pots, that they are life-changing, etc ... the real result is that it does do a nice job cleaning out the nasal canal, but that is about it. Neti pots aren't magic. I still have to take allergy medicine in the season. I still have some issues with a stuffed-up nose. But the Neti pot does make things a little bit easier, and has become part of my normal routine. I recommend the Neti pot, but as with most things like this it is best not to set your expectations too high.

This product does what it is designed to do. It is well made and the top has not closed when I use it (referring to other comments). Quite frankly, if you're pushing hard enough to close the top you're gonna get this thing stuck in your nose. heh
I use it more as a neti pot, putting all eight ounces through the nose every night. Be gentle with the "squirt" bottle. Let the water move slowly through the sinuses. Gentle pressure on the squeeze bottle is all you need. I have not used their packets to make my solution. Following the instructions from other neti pot and nasal irrigation sites, I mix warm tap water with a little less than a 1/4 tsp of non-iodized salt, and a pea sized dab of baking soda. If you do this slowly, there is really no discomfort. Some say it can feel weird at first, but you get used it quickly. Nothing goes down the throat. When I first got this product, I squeezed a little too hard and added too much salt. Remember, you're not power washing your deck, here. The results, for me, are amazing. The sinuses are so clear afterward. Even my lungs were like, "what is this, air?" I think I am even sleeping better. Highly recommended. I wish they'd invented this sooner. (oh, yeah, this practice is thousands of years old, heh).

I bought one of these, because I have horrible allergy attacks on a pretty regular basis. I've heard that nasal washes help people with allergy problems, so I went ahead and bought this little kit. I don't use it on a regular basis, but recently, I had allergies so bad, I could barely breathe at night. I used this one of those nights, and within an hour, I could breathe better, because the wash had reduced the swelling in my nose. I used it again in the morning, and I swear this thing really helped me get over this particular allergy attack. It really is simple and easy to use. I haven't had any problems with swallowing the wash or it going down my throat, because I follow the "pretend like you're gargling" technique. I use the solution at room temperature and use half of the salt packet per fill up of the bottle. I hope more people give this nasal wash a try, because it works for me, and I have daily allergy problems with attacks every few months.

I have been using the Netti pot, but I got this crazy cold where the power of gravity wasn't enough to get the mucus out of my nose. I went on youtube to see if I was using it correctly. There I found some videos about Nasopure. I bought one right away and have been so so happy that I did. So easy to use and it worked better then the Netti pot. It is quicker and had more force to get the stuff out of my nose. YAY!!! HIGHLY recommend.
