A bit expensive for what you get...,

I've had this rig for about a month now and use it about once a day. Like many, I have allergies and this rig does help...
however, the bottle is thin plastic, and basically, has a top that resembles a dish detergent top. (In fact, I don't see any difference) My main gripe about this rig, is that the pop top, pops closed sometimes while you are irrigating even under slight pressure. (In other words, if you put too much pressure while trying to seal the bottle against your nostril, the cap may close on you). The marketing pitch claims you don't have to tilt your head. This is bunk if you want to be able to use all of the solution in the bottle. You will still need to tilt your head. (Frankly, this is no big deal) As far as cost, for what you get, 20 bucks is too much. In fact, it's a rip off for what is essentially a dish detergent bottle. Don't buy the packet/refills... they are a ripoff too! Instead, here is how to save some $$$ on the "solution" Mix your own (this will fit into the bottle as the bottle I have is 8 ounces or 1 cup) 1 cup water 1/2 tsp Sea Salt 1/2 tsp Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)

Better than Netti,
This review is from: New Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation System by Nasopure (Health and Beauty)
After a few unsuccessful attempts with the traditional netti pot I had given up on nasal irrigation. It caused pain and headaches. However, post-nasal drip that didn't respond to anything the docs have me made me want to try again. After seeing a video showing a chid using this product I decided to give it a go.
What an amazing difference this product has made. I am not sure if it is because I can stand up straight using it, or due to the design of the bottle, but I experience no sinus pain or pressure as with the traditional netti pot. After four days I could breathe easier, sleep more soundly because the post nasal drip does not wake me up any longer. For the first four days/nights the post nasal drip was there, but more of a saline drip. I now use it every morning, after I brush my teeth. However, I do not use the packets that came with it any longer, as they sting. I use a pharmaceutical grade salt which is very fine and don't feel a thing. Overall I believe, Nasopure is a great price for a great product.

I am a physician, but MORE important - I am a chronic allergy and runny nose person. My whole life. Had sinus surgery, took antihistamines daily, got infections, lost time at work - the whole thing. I started using a generic nose wash system that really helped immensely (less symptoms, less need for meds), but then I found Nasopure and I haven't used anything else since that day. I carry the Little Squirt with me when I travel and I swear it's kept me from getting sick more than once. The bottle is intuitively easy to use, the mix is the best one I've found, and I rank Nasopure right up there with my toothbrush for The Things That Help Me Feel Human Every Morning.

I am a long time sufferer from allergies, sinus problems and lately a slight loss of hearing. For the past two weeks I have had sinus pressure, watery eyes, a runny nose and trouble breathing though my nose. This system arrived today. I read the very simple instructions and proceeded to use the New Neti Pot Nasal Wash/Sinus Irrigation System. It was very easy and the relief was immediate. I could breath through both nostrils for the first time in two weeks. My ears popped and everything sounds a little too loud but what a relief. I plan to use it again before I go to bed tonight and again first thing in the morning. No medication has ever worked that quickly. I am so happy that I bought it.

The new design of this Nasopure Neti Pot makes it much easier to use than the heavy and breakable ceramic genie or teapot versions, which force you to hold your head at an awkward and uncomfortable angle. The Nasopure allows you to irrigate your lower sinuses while looking directly ahead, with absolutely no "drowning" sensation. Your upper sinuses are gently cleansed by the suction action that occurs when the saline solution rushes through your lower sinus passages.
The instructions included with the Nasopure say to use about two tablespoons of the saline solution in each nostril per day, storing the excess in the bottle in between uses; but I typically use about half the solution in each nostril, rinse out the bottle with hot water, then mix up fresh saline solution the next morning. The enclosed packets of mixture are handy when you're getting up to speed with the whole process, but when they run out it's a simple matter to add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt to warm water in the bottle and briefly shake to mix. If you prefer a buffered solution, just toss in a pinch of baking soda with the salt. The whole process takes less than three minutes each morning before my shower, and I breathe easier all day as a result. An allergy sufferer, I definitely notice a difference on the occasional days that I forget to irrigate my sinuses.

Turned my allergy season around,
By Steve Hollasch (Redmond, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation System by Nasopure (Health and Beauty)
I've been using nasal saline irrigation with the 8oz Nasopure for the first time this season, and am totally hooked. I rinse in the morning and in the evening, and am largely symptom-free all day -- even when out golfing. When I do suffer something now, it's typically a sneezing bout that passes. No red, teary eyes, no running nose all day long, and very very free breathing through my nose. Eight weeks into the season, I resorted to Nasonex one time only. This is one of those products that I now consider indispensable. Thankfully, I listened to many others who have experienced the same relief. Yeah, it was odd at first, but now it doesn't feel any more odd or different than blowing a bunch of mucous into tissue paper (actually it feels less gross than that now). Afterward, I can breathe completely freely, and with a slight salt tang (like breathing on the beach).
For my own purposes, I mix my own solution. I weigh out 32g (1 1/8 oz) of non-iodized salt, and then 16g (a little over 1/2 oz) of baking soda. Pour this into a small zip lock baggie. When you need to mix new solution, I pour this into a 500ml poly bottle and fill with tap water, and keep this on hand (makes about eight rinses). When I'm ready to rinse, pour a portion of this solution into the 8oz Nasopure bottle, and top off with water. For an isotonic rinse (same salinity as your body), fill the Nasopure bottle 1/8th of the way with the solution and top off with tap water. For a hypotonic rinse (double the body's natural salinity, which I use, since it cleans out your sinuses very effectively), fill the Nasopure bottle 1/4 way with the solution and top off with water. There are a lot of other ways to do this, but this is what I'm using these days.

Have been doing this for years...,

I love Dr. Hana's Nasopure! The bottle is a great design and easy to use. I use it when my allergies or a cold are driving me nuts and it helps so much.
I can also say that I know Dr. Hana personally since she was my kid's pediatrician (she's a GREAT doctor) and she always encouraged this treatment before she started marketing it. However, if you balk at the cost, I would suggest buying the starter kit and then you an mix your own solution when the packets run out! 1/2 tsp each of baking soda and canning salt (or sea salt) and fill to the line on the side of the bottle... that's what I do.

Travel Size Water-boarding,

This review is from: New Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation System by Nasopure with 8 ounce bottle (Health and Beauty)
38 years of making fun of friends and family with stuffy noses and watery eyes every spring because they had allergies was something I had always looked forward to for the upcoming allergy season. Pollen count was my favorite part of the weather forecast. One stupid deployment to the bowels of Afghanistan and I develop dust allergies. The unstoppable running of the nose, fiery itch of the eyes, un-godly sized, rock hard boogers that made me tear up even more when it ripped out the nose hairs. Waking up in the middle of the night as I choked on my own saliva was making me angry and irritated. Nothing seemed to relieve the suffering I was having - pills, nasal spray or digging for gold. After trying countless OTC allergy medicine, the doctor finally suggested something I had never even heard of - a nasal rinse. After researching, I decided on purchasing the Neti Pot Nasal Rinse system. Perfect as I would be able to stuff it in my shower bag and be able to use while in the shower. The first day I tried it I felt as if I was being interrogated. Water up the nose, forgot to close my throat, the burning saline mix as it runs into my stomach liner. At first I wasn't looking forward to my daily rinses. Now I daydream about becoming a super-spy. If water-boarding relieves their allergies as good as this does, those guys should be thanking us!

Its not scary at all! I bought this thing, dreading it, but knowing I really needed to do something about my chronic sinus issues. I've been scared of nasal sprays my whole life and hated the water-up-the-nose feeling you get when you swin. I guess the youtube videos of the little kids doing it sold me. I figure if they weren't afraid, then I could do it. I actually like using the nasopure. I find the trick is to get the temperature just right. If its too cool or too warm, then its uncomfortable, but just right at luke-warm, then you dont really feel it. It leaves you feeling refreshed, and I credit nasopure for helping prevent cold and flu thus far.

sinus irrigation bottle: It Works,

I never thought I'd be writing anything like this. Allergies have been a big problem all my life. I'm 45. This thing works.
Living in the desert with very low humidity causes my sinuses to dry out excessively, making the natural drainage fail. I use this irrigation bottle every morning in the shower, and so far it has helped immensely. The saline packets come in a "high strength" and per instructions you can mix 1/2 packets for normal use, or whole packets for extra-strength. I normally use 1/2 packet. When done, there is a strong smell of halide / chlorine, much like when you've had ocean water in your sinuses (sodium chloride...), but it goes away fairly fast. |
