I had this simulator as a middle schooler. As a pregnancy deterrent, I do not know if this is the most effective possible tool. The baby should make more noise (rather than being perfectly silent for hours at a time. It does have uncontrollable crying moments (there should be several setting choices) but they are few and relatively short. All in all the most effective part of this simulator/deterrent is that it wakes you up for nightly feedings.

This is a very unrealistic infant simulator. It cries several dozen times over a 48 hour period, BUT you can turn off the crying in a few seconds by inserting one of the keys. Supposedly there are "care episodes" lasting from about five to twenty minutes. However, when it cries, you put in the keys for diaper change, feeding, burping, and attention, and when you get the right key, it coos and then stops crying. Then when the "care episode" is over it cries again, you insert the key again, and it coos again. The problem is that during the "care episode", you do not have to do anything to care for it. You can just put it down and walk away! It's way too easy when all you have to do is put in a key and it stops crying. My daughter thought it was so much fun she wants to get one for another weekend! Other simulators keep crying longer, have sensors in the mouth so you have to hold the bottle in the mouth, make you change the diaper or rock the baby, etc. |
