5.0 out of 5 stars It Works
I had previously bought 3 Victor plunger type traps.I had no luck with them. I bought the Nash choker loop and have trapped 2 in approximately one month.

These are very well made and durable, but did not suite my needs.

I got these traps based on some online comments describing wild success. However, I did not fully understand how they work when I ordered them. They work by cutting two slots in the tunnel from above. You lower the trap into the slots and it rests on top of the tunnel. The trap has two wire loops that are supposed to reach to the bottom of the tunnel and a trigger that rests on top of a section of the tunnel that you collapse.

Unfortunately in my yard the tunnels are not visible, only the hills. Also the critter needs to actively digging to set off the trigger (reopening the tunnel that was collapsed). I tried this trap, but I had to dig holes to find the tunnel. I put the trap in the hole in line with the tunnel, but had no success.

I ordered a "cinch trap" from Gophers limited instead. These work by putting the trap into the tunnel opening at the hill. Then the critter sets it off just by hitting it, no digging required.

Depends on your situation, make sure you understand how they work first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nash Mole Trap #100 Works, May 18, 2008
This review is from: Nash Choker Loop Mole Trap (Lawn & Patio)
For Years we have been trying to get rid of our Ground Moles. Got 3 traps about 10 days ago and my wife have already trapped 8 of them. Sure is nice we found something that works. So if you want a trap that works this is the one. The yard is looking so much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars update on Nash choker loop, July 22, 2009
This review is from: Nash Choker Loop Mole Trap (Lawn & Patio)
My first review was in Dec. of 2007. It is now July 2009. When I trap a mole I keep a record by making a chalk mark on the wall of an old smoke house on my property. There are now 51 chalk marks and I probably neglected to record a few. I am finished with keeping count. When you have the right product, it's just a matter of the more you use it the better you get with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nash Mole Trap, August 24, 2008

This mole trap takes less work to set, i.e digging further into your lawn than the mole has already, than our other one. It does catch moles. Tricky to set but it gets the job done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, not messy, October 1, 2010

My husband has used this mole trap for over 20 years and we finally had to replace our original because he ran over it with the lawn tractor. Not more than an hour passed when we caught the first mole with the new trap. He likes this type because there's no blood and if the mole's not dead he just drowns it in a bucket of water. Don't feel sorry for them. We bought 2 this time so we can have more control when they enter from the front and back of the property.

5.0 out of 5 stars An effective method to stop mole damage, July 5, 2008

Though moles do aid aerate land, their feeding needs can do some real damage to a lawn. The Nash Mole Trap, though a little tricky to set, once properly in place, does the job effectively. After having used other methods available on the market without success, I found the Nash Trap worked.

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent trap, July 12, 2011

The Nash Choker Loop trap is a decent design. It is well made and easy to use. I found that I was able to improve the trap's performance by using a strong U-shaped wire (look at picture of "Rainbird Galvanized Tie Down Stakes" - coat hanger wire will also work)about 4" long to stake the base of the trap near the spring directly to the ground. Otherwise the moles were able to raise the entire trap up and tunnel right underneath it without tripping it. By fastening the base to the soil, the trap would stay in place and when the moles tried tunneling through the trap, the raising dirt would pretty much guarantee that the trigger plate would release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only trap i'll ever use, June 14, 2011

This review is from: Nash Choker Loop Mole Trap (Lawn & Patio)
Having 10 acres and over the years have had a number of times with problems with moles,I've tried other methods of ridding the property of them. nothing worked,or as well as these traps. This recent purchase was for my father and his neighbor (who for whatever reason did not want to borrow the Nash traps i already had.)Guess they wanted their own. My Dad and others I've lent mine to, were VERY pleased with them. I set one of the new traps for my 80+yr old Dad, in his neighbors yard for him(if it's the ONLY bad thing here , these traps can tend to be a little hard to set , for people like my Dad's 80yr's+ arthritic hands)I looked over the area to place a trap, picked what i thought was a recent tunnel run, and the next day I got a email from my Mom saying they got "the" mole(prob the only one, since their territory covers a area most would think is from more than one).

My first experience here with my traps was probably 10 yrs ago ,was after i mowed and rolled(to locate/ID a recent-in use tunnel) my back lawn,I set the trap and covered it w/ a bucket(mindset being i did not want my small dogs checking out/tripping the trap, though I really can't see that any harm to them could occur).I took a quick shower to clean up after my mowing session and afterwards I looked out my back window and saw the bucket had been knocked over(thinking a false trip etc.) NOPE! as I pulled the trap out to reset it, I saw that the trap had already got a mole within that short time!(10-15 minutes)

Don't waste money on poison/smoke bombs/underground repellers or any other type of trap for moles/voles, get a Nash Choker loop trap, read the instructions, practice setting the trap(be careful ,those traps are sprung very strongly!)pick a recent tunnel run and set it and you WILL get those lil critters making a mess out of your lawn in short order.

As you can tell, I can't say enough about these traps, they work and work well!

5.0 out of 5 stars The only thing that works!, June 12, 2011

we've got 2 acres that started to become the home for moles 5 years ago. we tried all kinds of 'methods' to get rid of them with no success. if someone suggested it works, we tried it. the moles had now taken over nearly all of the acreage. then a friend said he had this trap and it worked for him. i borrowed it and quickly caught two moles. i was sold! i bought EIGHT choker loop traps a month ago. 24 dead moles later - i'm a believer. THIS THING WORKS when everything else fails!
