Book Description

May 25, 1999
Nashua: In Time and Place, the first comprehensive

photographic history of the area's cultural, economic, political, and industrial life, documents the progression of this fascinating community from the late nineteenth century to the 1960s. Featured in Nashua: In Time and Place are extraordinary photographs of early street scenes, as well as local businesses, industries, and institutions. Over 100 Nashua residents have contributed images from their personal collections to help Nashua portray its true diversity and local identity. Combining a wide range of photographs with insightful and informative captions, the authors have created a compelling visual history that traces the transformation of a small, New England town into a thriving, metropolitan city with more than 80,000 residents.

About the Author

The Trustees of the Hunt Memorial Building are a group of dedicated citizens appointed by the mayor of the City of Nashua. The Hunt Memorial Building, a key Nashua landmark designed by the well-known firm of Cram, Goodhue, and Ferguson, gained national recognition in 1973, when it became a national historic site. The goal of the trustees is to restore the building to its full grandeur. A fitting tribute to the preservation of a unique city, Nashua: In Time and Place will earn a lasting place on the bookshelves of area homes and in the hearts of residents of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating reading for local residents., February 29, 2004
This review is from: Nashua: In Time and Place (Images of America: New Hampshire) (Paperback)
While my 18 years in Nashua, NH, don't qualify me as a 'native,' I found it very interesting reading. So many of the same family names are common threads woven through the fabric of our history. It was especially enjoyable to share it with the children, and to point out the various locations on our drives. It helps us all have a deeper appreciation of what has changed, and what has not.
