5.0 out of 5 stars Nashville Guitars Features Best of the Best Players
Nashville Guitars Various Artists (Nuance 54404)

On "Nashville Guitars," produced by noted session guitarist Louie Shelton (The Jackson Five, The Monkees), he contributes the up-tempo track "High Roller," accompanied by ten more tracks from some of the finest pickers in Nashville.

Let me begin by saying that there isn't a lackluster cut among these eleven tracks...

3.0 out of 5 stars I was thinking of the Other Nashville....
Listenable, but not quite what I was expecting....(dog-gone those expectations, they be little more than "future resentments"). I have it in the pickup for those long drives, so I am getting some enjoyment out of it.

Let me begin by saying that there isn't a lackluster cut among these eleven tracks. Mark Casstevens contributes an acoustic picking masterpiece in "Cowtown," this from a guitarist who can be heard on albums by folks like Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, and Amy Grant. Reggie Young (Elvis' "Suspicious Minds") shines at full luster on "Exit 209," an easy-listening number, and Ray Flacke smokes the fret board on "Templar Treasure."

The variety of tunes is obvious, but so is the immense amount of talent present here. All in all, Louie Shelton has produced a top notch compilation of some of the best guitarists to gather on one album in quite some time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A showcase of unbelievable talent!, November 26, 2003

What can I say, I absolutely love this album. Every track is a guitar masterclass, other than maybe Boomer Castlemans effort which sounds like it was recorded very ad-hoc and thrown together without much thought, but is still kind of clever nonetheless. Other than that though these guys are truly the finest players in the world today, with the very obvious exceptions of Brent Mason, Ray Flacke and Albert Lee.

Superb, just superb.

If you like guitarists such as Brent Mason, you'll love this CD. These guys are fantastic. They all sound alike but they're great so who cares.

This is an instrumental album showcasing the talents of some of the Nashville session guitarists circa 2000. It is directed at and a MUST BUY for those country music devotees and/or guitar nuts who love virtuouso electric guitar playing. The quality of guitar playing is extemely high. The type of playing is not of the wailing wah wah and fuzz box variety. It is (fast!!!) clean picking (generally) with more than a passing nod to the blue grass roots of country music. If there is a criticism of the collection it is that the pallete of musical ideas is somewhat limited. Also there are notable absentees (to be expected) so that for example there is no contribution by Brent Mason or Dan Huff. Still a very enjoyable collection with some super guitar playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, November 12, 2006

This CD is absolutely fantastic. I fail to see how someone can not like this disc. The sound is superb and the only flaw is that it isn't a double CD. You won't find any better tele players than these guys.

I bought this CD on a whim. I wish I had whims like that more often. I am really not that familar with any of the artists playing here but that didn't stop me from being really impressed with what I heard when I first listened to it. Each track is by a different artist and it has no bad tracks. The CD is quality is very good and each track jumps right out there. I recommend it highly.

Awsome collection of modern chicken picking guitar music. Must have for guitar enthusiasts. Not for the casual guitar lover. Very intricate, instrumental guitar music.

This was just an incredible value. Top Nashville session guitarists on a single CD. Well produced. Lots of styles to listen to. I keep it in my car and listen to it all the time.
