4.0 out of 5 stars nice treat for cozy fans
In Cabot Cove, Maine the Cabot Cove Cares supports each year a young artist. This year's winner is eighteen years old singer-songwriter Cyndi Blaskowitz who is going to Nashville on a scholarship. 3.0 out of 5 stars Darling Jessica Was Too Much This Time!
I love Murder, She Wrote and understand that there wouldn't be a story if Jessica Fletcher didn't stick her nose in everything, but this was a trying read for me. 4.0 out of 5 stars nice treat for cozy fans, April 10, 2010
This review is from: Nashville Noir: A Murder, She Wrote Mystery: A Novel (Hardcover)
In Cabot Cove, Maine the Cabot Cove Cares supports each year a young artist. This year's winner is eighteen years old singer-songwriter Cyndi Blaskowitz who is going to Nashville on a scholarship. If she is fortunate her songs will be recorded. Cyndi has an appointment to meet music executive Roderick Marker, who she hopes will help her after hearing one of her tunes.

A few weeks later, Cyndi fails to call her mom as she has done everyday since arriving in Music Town. Instead she was arrested for the murder of Roderick. Cyndi's mother begs Jessica to clear her daughter so the writer travels to Nashville. Her reputation gets Cyndi out of jail as long as Jessica is responsible for the teen who wears an electronic monitor. The author's inquiry soon finds a score of people wanting Marke dead, but who actually killed him remains difficult to determine.

The Jessica Fletcher mysteries are always a nice treat for cozy fans as the American Miss Marple simply asks questions while strumming up an ensemble of suspects in her latest whodunit. Nashville Noir shows the other side of the Music Town far from the glitter as Jessica plays a delightful New Englander country virtuoso with the Tennessee Waltz.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine mystery evolves, perfect for any general lending library, June 15, 2010
Murder, She Wrote: Nashville Noir is based on the TV series and provides a fine new book in a mystery series. Here music and murder clash when a country music publisher is murdered by a young talent, and Jessica is called upon to help a daughter in trouble. A fine mystery evolves, perfect for any general lending library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nashville Noir a hit!, May 17, 2010

I've read all of the books in the Murder She Wrote series and I just have to say this is one of the best. I felt like I was right there with Jessica. Donald Bain did an excellent job creating the scene, the characters, the little nuances that make a book a thrill to read.... As always, I'm looking forward to the next book!

2.0 out of 5 stars horrible, July 4, 2011
I absolutely ADORE the Murder, She Wrote series, and I gotta tell ya...this book is awful. The story is boring, the characters completely unlikeable, and I couldn't have given two poots about whether or not Jessica solved the mystery. I'd skip this one - or wait to get it from the library. I want my money back.

I love Murder, She Wrote and understand that there wouldn't be a story if Jessica Fletcher didn't stick her nose in everything, but this was a trying read for me. Jessica wasn't just curious and involved - she was overly nosy and it became tedious. I prefer the books where the murder just happens around Jess and she doesn't show up uninvited searching in people's drawers. I really think Jessica has a little more class than that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite book in the series....., January 1, 2012
This book dragged seriously in the middle. I generally read one of these easily on a down time afternoon, but this one took me two weeks to finish just because I so easily became bored. I had it figured out by about 2/3 of the way through, which isn't all that unusual for me, but couple with that and the sheer boredom of it, and I nearly didn't finish it at all. Not sure what has happened, but the earlier books in the series are much better written overall, in my opinion, than these newer ones. I may just go back and re-read those I have unless the next one I bought is better.......sadly.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best!, October 5, 2010
This review is from: Nashville Noir: A Murder, She Wrote Mystery: A Novel (Hardcover)
Since I've posted a couple of critical comments about some of the other Murder She Wrote books, I have to say that this is one of the very best in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jessica To the Rescue, April 24, 2010

Rosa "Bookworm" (Detroit,MichiganUSA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nashville Noir: A Murder, She Wrote Mystery: A Novel (Hardcover)
This a nice read but not the best of the series. It starts with rising country star Cyndi Blaskowitz aka Cyndi Gabriel sent out to Nashville with a chance of stardom with the CCC foundation which Jessica is a member. Only to dupe and charge with murder when one of her songs is stolen by her so-called manager who is killed. In typical fashion Jessica offers to help. There's plenty of colorful characters but no real surprise or suspense. Nevertheless this is start out with until the next novel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Should've been "Nashville Nothing", April 2, 2011
Other than Jessica Fletcher riding around Nashville in a lot of different vehicles and asking a lot of dumb questions in a rude manner, there really wasn't much substance to this book. The police always seemed to be around when she needed them and the supposed suspense in one or two places in the book were less than dramatic. In addition to riding in a lot of vehicles, Jessican ate/drink in a lot of different restaurants and imposed herself into a lot of unrealistic situations. Cindy's character was flat and in no way reflected that of a naive young songwriter trying to make it on her own in the big city. After writing a lot of ugly personal gossip about Jessica in the local paper a reporter suddenly approaches Jessica with a lot of information and after Jessica seems not to know what a BOLO is (be-on-the-lookout) about 2/3 of the way through the book, I was done. Not one of the better efforts in these particular series.
