5.0 out of 5 stars This Disc is Awsome
I first borrowed this CD from a friend of mine after he told me that they were the ones that sang Little Black Backpack. I guess he was sick of me asking who the group was. Anyway, I played the disc and was surprised that I liked as many songs as I did. Usually the only song that's good is the one they play on the radio, but not in this case. After keeping my...

1.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe people like this
I don't know why I can't believe it--many records I think are terrible sell in the millions. Anyway, I tried this because of the good reviews and I had to force myself to get through it. But I did and I listened to the entire thing and then I got rid of it. I do not recommend this cd. It is formula 90s pop with nothing to say for itself.

After keeping my friends disc for a month or two he took it from me, quite forcibly and so I went out and bought it right away. My neighbors in my dorm are pretty sick of me playing that disc all the time, but some day they'll realize the greatness of Stroke 9. I can't wait for their next album. I love all the songs but like someone else said I really like tracks 1, 3 and 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars keep on strokin', December 8, 1999

Finally--a band for the mid-20 somethings who have been lost for years in the music scene. Nowadays, all we hear on so-called "alternative rock" stations is this punk/rap/noise that all the teenages love. This CD is chock full of harmonious tunes with a very slight 80's alternative influence. Definitely worth buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly suprised, but not extremely enthralled, August 15, 2000

This review is from: Nasty Little Thoughts (Audio CD)
I bought this song primarily because I couldn't get the song "Little Black Backpack" out of my head... and so I bought the cd to hear a better voice sing it then my own. I tried out listening to the other songs on the cd, and found I wasn't to into it. I stuck the cd in my car, and didn't bring it back out for a couple of months. About three weeks ago I discovered it again, and began listening to it all over again... it's great! The whole cd!

You know how some cds, or songs you fall in love with the first time you hear it, and think "Wow!"... but others you kind of shrug off, and hear it more, and more and decide you like it? That's EXACTLY what this cd is like! I give it a B+... it's definetly worth purchasing, but give it some time, and you'll love it!

My personal favorite songs on the cd (not including "Little Black Backpack, got to love it though...Include "Letters", "Tail of the Sun", "Tear me in two", but those are just favorites... they're all great! What I think definetly is the most impressive thing about this album is how smart, and fasinating the lyrics are. Buy it now!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Band with a big future, May 13, 2000
This review is from: Nasty Little Thoughts (Audio CD)
If you like Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, Vertical Horizon or any other bands of the genre then you will love this album! It isn't out in England yet but I was lucky to get it from New York and was most impressed. LETTERS and LBB are my favourite songs (infact LBB was the first song I heard and I've just about warn it out! ). WASHIN AND WONDERIN is another great up tempo song. They have radio friendly tunes and poptastic/rocky melodies aswell as the acoustic stuff that is common place these days. this is a very good guitar album aswell with some great progression and riffs. It does remind me of MB20s debut album but MB20 stays strong throughout. Nasty Little Thoughts drifts off towards the end (hense the 4 stars). The best songs and singles at the forefont but this does not detract from a band with a bright future. Hope to hear these guys in the UK. There are so many great bands like this that dont seem to cross over too well. Lets hope they make it over here!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasure to Listen to, April 25, 2000
This review is from: Nasty Little Thoughts (Audio CD)
No, this cd doesn't present us with life altering views of the world. No, it doesn't force us to be better people. I don't know about you, but sometimes I just like music, because it's catchy. Stroke 9 manages this with ease. This is one of those cd's that I can pop in the player, and listen to over and over again. The songs are catchy, and I find myself singing them quite often. This is a fun cd, especially for the summer. The title track, "Nasty Little Thoughts", is one of the best songs on the entire album. Give Stroke 9 a chance, before dismissing them. Noone said music had to make you be a deep thinker, personally, I like music that can take my mind off of other things.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy it for Backpack, keep it for the rest of the songs, November 9, 1999

I saw these guys live, most fun you can have at a show. Bought the cd to hear backpack, but end up skipping song on cd to hear other songs, they get 5 stars if they better capture live energy

4.0 out of 5 stars Definently Worth It, November 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nasty Little Thoughts (Audio CD)
Basically, Stroke 9 just rocks. Although this album is just a bit too studio friendly (Little Black Backpack, the single, has better lyrics, more verses, and an awesome guitar riff missing from the new version on their 1995 self release, Bumper to Bumper), it is music perfect to listen to while doing your homework, falling to sleep, blasting in the car, and singing in the shower. It is everywhere music and gets better the louder you play it. For the maximum Stroke 9 experience, though, you have to see them live. Trust me, it's worth it. Well, as they say, keep strokin, and if you love Nasty Little Thoughts, order Bumper to Bumper off the band's website and hear Stroke 9 when they were just starting to write some of their current staple songs, like LBBP and Not Nothin' (sadly, without current drummer, Greg).

This CD is great from start to finish. I had only heard Little Black Back Pack when I bought it. I put it in and listened to it non-stop for days after my purchase. It is rare to find a CD that you can listen to from start to finsh.

5.0 out of 5 stars hot band, cool songs, November 29, 1999

John, Greg, Eric, and Luke are Stroke 9. Stroke 9 is the best band, which puts Nasty Little Thoughts as the best album. NLT is a great mix of of mellow riff tunes(tail of the sun) and more driven rock songs(letters and little black backpack). The songs on this CD from the first to last have potential to be awesome singles. This a CD well worth it's buy.
