Most Helpful Customer Reviews

Format: Mass Market Paperback
This book will leave you guessing at the outcome until the last page. Who will win the heroine's heart and love? Pick up a copy today to find out how this gothic/romance ends. This tale embraces the twilight hour, when romance is in the air and passion rouses the senses. This tale is a compelling, suspenseful, and passoinate lovestory. I'm a big fan of traditional, old-fashioned, Gothic novels, (Love the book covers too!) and since I'm a modern-day writer, I strive to bring that elegance unto the written page. As a result, my books are dark, mysterious, romantic, and sometimes eerie, with the recurring gloomy mansion, a beautiful, inquisitive heroine, and a brooding, but handsome hero and/or anti-hero. My heroines will always be feisty, young, and beautiful, and my heroes, brooding, suave and extremely attractive. Once you begin reading one of my stories, before you know it, you will find yourself swept up in the suspenseful, romantic intrigue as you hurry to turn those pages!

Her prose is quite unique and a bit different from the "norm of romances" you may be used to reading. I can promise you that her books (like my own) will be so appealing and believable that you will find yourself walking in the heroine's shoes, seeing through her eyes, speaking her words, feeling her fears, her struggles, her anguish, her melancholy and even her ecstasy.

The endings are sometime surprising... sometimes happy... sometimes bittersweet... but they are NEVER boring, or predictable!

More About the Author

Biography
Clara Wimberly

Clara Wimberly always wanted to be a writer. When she took early retirement from the U.S. Forest Service she began writing full time to pursue the dream of becoming a published writer. The influence of Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney, as well as southern writers such as Borden Deal and Babs Deal, fueled her interest in atmospheric historical writing. The South is a favorite setting for Clara's novels. Her first book, The Emerald Tears of Foxfire Manor, a Gothic Romance, was set during the Civil War in North Carolina. That first book won an honorable mention in Georgia Romance Writers' Maggie Awards. Since then she has published more than 20 books in a variety of work, from gothic to historical, mainstream, suspense and southern nostalgia. She has written for publishers Kensington, Zebra, Pinnacle, HarperCollins, Silhouette, Red Rose Publishers and BelleBooks. Several of her books appeared on National Best Seller lists and two placed in Georgia Romance Writers' Maggie Awards. Wimberly's books have been published in Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Italian and German and have appeared in over a dozen different countries. She is the mother of three adult children and the grandmother of 7 - 3 boys and 4 girls. Her interests include American history, herb gardening, counted cross stitch, genealogy, traveling, collecting vintage teapots and of course reading.
