My class of first and second graders loves when I read "Nate the Great" books aloud. This CD allows them to listen to it themselves, and follow along in the book - great for a classroom listening center. The actor who reads aloud has the perfect voice for Nate, child detective.

The only problem is that the stories and their corresponding tracks are not explained. Each story takes 3 or more tracks to complete. I had to make a chart for the kids to follow : Nate the Great Goes Undercover - tracks 1,2,3. Nate the Great and the Halloween Hunt tracks 4,5,6,7,8. etc.

My 7 year old son just got this for Christmas. He and my 5 year old son really enjoyed listening to this on a long car trip. They laughed and were engaged. The only problem is that the narrator sounds like a drag queen when he does the female voices, especially that of Rosamund. My husband and I were horrified, only because we found it incredibly annoying and because our boys have been mimicking this for two days. I just think a good narrator speaks in his own voice, or close to it, even when he plays the opposite sex. Little girls should not sound like drag queens. Too funny, but unfortunately, too annoying for grown ups as well.

car or before bed at night. To our home reading
is a fun activity and improves the mind and
especially learning

I bought this CD for my 3 year old for Christmas and our whole family loves it (2 adults, 8 yr. old, 6yr. old and 3 yr. old)! The reader is so funny, and his voice impersonations are hilarious. The first book on the CD is definately the best, but the others are entertaining as well. I definately recommend this product.

I do not yet own this collection, however I checked it out from the library almost 6 wks ago and just now returned it because we could not renew it anymore. My two 3yr olds just LOVED it. They listened to it almost every night. The stories are shorter than some of the other audio books we have listened to, maybe 15 or 20 mins. apiece, so they are perfect for the car. They offer humor which my 7 yr. old loves. Nate also likes pancakes, which my kids find hilarious - and he has a dog, which now my boys are sure that we are going to get too. (we are not) If your children are a little bit older, they could probably follow the books while being read to on the CD. The books have lots of pictures which really makes my boys happy. My daughter read the books a year ago, in between kinder and first grade, and she still likes the cd even though she knows what will happen next. This cd is a big hit in our family and I will acquire it soon.

This audio has really kept my 3- and 6-year-old entertained! They love to listen to it - especially in the car! The narrator is really good, using slightly different voices for each character. It's especially nice that my older child can follow along with the books while listening. I wish there were more books on tapes for kids. It really lets them use their imagination.
