5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for a leftist
I'm not a leftist, but if I was I would buy this book ASAP. Need to find a lefty bookstore in Northern California? This is your guide. You can find leftist think tanks, TV and radio shows, reading clubs, and many other resources in The Nation Guide to the Nation. No, I don't know if it's printed on recycled paper.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK, but not as useful as I hoped
This guide would be better if there were more entries. The inpression is they wanted to fill a certain number of pages and didn't really have enough sites of interest to accomplish this so they used longer entries and fillers. (Less information about each enries would be fine if there were simply more of them.) Also, for the traveler, a cross reference that lists...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Encouraging Read, March 28, 2009

Those of us progressives who don't live in huge metropolitan areas will find this book helpful. I found it most encouraging to finally have in hand the closest thing available to a guidebook in my ongoing search for signs of progressive thought in the Midwest and wherever my spouse and I might travel. Highly recommend.

This work is a collaboration of the writers of The Nation Journal which would be a tremendous source of progressive nodes in America. I know of no other source so rich in content for progressive citizens. The Nation Guide to the Nation (Vintage)

The inpression is they wanted to fill a certain number of pages and didn't really have enough sites of interest to accomplish this so they used longer entries and fillers. (Less information about each enries would be fine if there were simply more of them.) Also, for the traveler, a cross reference that lists specific areas/cities and the associated entries would be helpful. (The geographical information is there, but it is spread out in the various chapters.) The bottom line is that the "left" is more interesting amd more wide spread than this book indicates.
