3.0 out of 5 stars Romantic, fireside reading January 1, 2014

Get ready for some serious fireside cuddling with your electrician girlfriend or boyfriend and this book, and see where it takes you both!

I recommend starting with Article 250, Grounding and Bonding, to discover and share your true feelings about electrical energy...safely.

Passages like Article 250.28(D)(2) will put you both in the mood: "Where a service consists of more than a single enclosure as permitted in 230.71(A), the main bonding jumper for each enclosure shall be sized in accordance with 250.28(D)(1) based on the largest ungrounded service conductor serving that enclosure." Yeah, baby....

And then when she reads the racy intro to Article 250.119 aloud to you, you'll know how the night is going to end up: "Unless required elsewhere in this Code, equipment grounding conductors shall be permitted to be bare, covered or insulated." Might as well get the wire strippers out right now....

And, if your relationship doesn't quite work out, you'll know it when she rips out Article 376-Metal Wireways, highlights 376.58 and sticks it to your fridge: "376.58 Dead Ends. Dead ends of metal wireways shall be closed."

Seriously though, if you are an electrician of any sort you have to buy this book when each new one comes out, you have no choice as the online versions are awful to use. The looseleaf format is GREAT as the pages lay flat open. The paper is very thin, otherwise it would be too heavy and bulky, so you might as well stock up on hole punch reinforcing stickers now, even though it's a 5-ring binder. And I highly recommend the aftermarket tabbed dividers to cut down on page flipping.

National Electrical Code 2014 (National Electrical Code ) is what I expected. I printed the state code punch holes in it put it in the binder. I would not recommend an loose-leaf book for state test it does take more time to flip through .
