5.0 out of 5 stars National Geographic Concise Atlas
Nice up to date Atlas at a very reasonable cost. It is very colorful and easy to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars National Geographic Concise Atlas of the World
This is a great Atlas for the average joe. However I am a travel consultant and require a guide with more information on the individual countries. So I am back to the drawing board.

1.0 out of 5 stars Some serrious mistakes are found, February 26, 2005
By
Bamshad Houshyani "Bam" (Utrecht. the Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: National Geographic Concise Atlas of the World (Paperback)
I've entered to one the biggest book stores in Utrecht, the Netherlands, I saw the Atlas of the World, I walked closer, since I'm always interested in M.E. history so I searched the page but faced with some terrible mistakes:

1. The name of Persian Gulf that is used more than thousands of years was accompanied by the name of Arabian Gulf which have never had any history and academic value.
2. Some of ancient persian islands were named wrong.
3. The word occupied was written under some of the islands, but as I know there are some misunderstandings that Arabs and Persians are helding negotiations to solve it.

Anyway I think the value of a great institute such as NG is high enough not to let these obvious mistakes occured.

For the newest edition I don not advise, but formal editions are really valuable specially you will be faced with a new generation of defenitions done by NG scientists.

I think I will wait to see if these mistakes will be removed for the next version or not, because these mistakes might be simply repeated in other regions.

Good luck with your book search
Bamshad
