Editorial Reviews

Review

"If you like to be able to just sit and look at beautiful images and not have to read that much, this book is for you, or whoever is lucky enough to get it as a gift from you." — Nature Photographers Online Magazine

No matter where you live, the sun rises and sets. Along its path the light changes — sometimes imperceptibly, always gradually, and sometimes stunningly on its path from dawn to dark and back again… Dawn to Dark Photographs: The Magic of Light tells this lush story through the work of National Geographic's best visual storytellers.” –McPherson Sentinel

"From peaceful lakes and broad landscapes, to Muslim pilgrims gathering to pray, U.S. Army soldiers on patrol and a crowded New York City sidewalk on a rainy day and myriad locations and scenes in between, the photographers of National Geographic share different shades of light in stunning images from around the world." -Deseret News

My son-in-law loved the book.
Jon L. Sweigart
Often there are a few words from the photographer or the writer about why and how and always there is thought and information about the subject matter.

Four hundred large, thick pages with wonderful images depicting light. I wasn't sure that I would like it, but I DO. Very Much. There is a great deal of magic in these pages. Often there are a few words from the photographer or the writer about why and how and always there is thought and information about the subject matter. The book inspires - I feel privileged to own this book.

An excellent collection of photos that demonstrate the capturing of the light magnificently. My son, an amateur photographer, enjoyed the gift very much!

another great book from National Geographic. I could spend a ton on their books, but I only have so much room on the coffee table and the shelves. I really like this book as it seems to capture a moment in time during one single day from sunup to sundown.

I purchased this while on a shoot in Arizona to get some ideas of how other folks have handled sunrise and sunset photographs. The images are great, but I would have appreciated more of a technical treatise instead of only a picture book
