3.0 out of 5 stars Already Dated, May 25, 2003

This review is from: National Geographic - Inside American Power (Inside Air Force One/Inside the White House/Inside the Pentagon) (DVD)
These DVD's are already dated! "Inside Air Force One" and "Inside the White House" are both back in the Clinton era, and there is much too much fawning about Bill and Hillary. "Inside the Pentagon" is more recent, however it is well before the Second Gulf War, and the revolutions that that war has seen in the area of freeing a country without destroying its civilian population or destroying its intrastructure. While these DVD's are appropriate for children, they are too dated for most adults.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor, September 26, 2011

This review is from: National Geographic - Inside American Power (Inside Air Force One/Inside the White House/Inside the Pentagon) (DVD)
I saw "Pentagon." It's well below National Geographic standards -- VERY little is about what goes on inside the Pentagon. It's about the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon and the rebuilding after that attack, and how wonderful Don Rumsfeld is, and a quick view of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and then the video goes into glorifying new weapons technologies and the military in general, and what a great job we're doing on the global war on terrorism -- this 2002 video was produced before we invaded Iraq. Long sections involve a pilot who flew air cover over the Pentagon after the attack, a lockdown after a suspicious package is spotted, and the deliberations about how to translate and release a bin Laden tape they've received. We do find out the Pentagon workers drink lots of coffee, make lots of phone calls and send lots of e-mails, and have their own shopping mall inside the Pentagon. Wow.
Our soldiers, sailors, and marines deserve the spotlight and respect for their service to our country. However, this video is supposed to be about the *Pentagon,* not a military ad.
