I got this book for my daughter. She is 9.

Last year I got her the National Geographic kids Almanac 2012. She really enjoyed that book and it came in so useful to her during that year. Things she would learn in class she would come home and say she knew some of the stuff because she saw it in her book, or she would go back and look at the Almanac and see what she learned and get more details on it.

I figured since she got so much use and enjoyment in the previous one I would get her the new issue.

Sadly this issue contains the same things as the previous issue. The games are different but the information is the same. A few new things and imagines but nothing very new.

I still am happy I bought it, the old one had a lot of wear to it, but disappointed it mostly just a reprint.

Wow--National Geographic continues to amaze me with these fact-packed books that my kids love. My son couldn't believe that a mako shark can jump higher than a giraffe's head. My oldest daughter loves looking at the animal pictures, especially of the animal friends--a dog and an owl?! I will definitely take this book with me on all our summer travels--it's a treasure trove of distraction/learning opportunities!

This book gets a work out in our house. My daughter is eight years old and a human sponge for facts and info. She grabs this (and the 2012 version) constantly for road trips, as a take a long to friends houses or to just sit quietly and absorb the wonderful information provided inside. It is so well done! This little book packs a lot of punch and it worth every penny! If your child loves to learn and enjoys interesting facts, this is a must have book.

My Son was given the 2012 Almanac as a gift and loved it, so we ordered him the 2013. He was VERY disappointed to see that roughly 80 percent of the 2013 is EXACTLY the same as the 2012. They didn't bother to change some of the same pictures in each section. This would be great to give a child if it is their first National Geographic's Almanac, but if not...don't waste your money. It is hard to believe National Geographic can't come up with new pictures and articles for each section. They should have the most pictures, and descriptions of cultures and history above any one else. Very, very disappointing.

If your child doesn't have any Nat Geo Kids Almanacs, then BUY THIS. These books are fabulous for any kid who is curious about nature and the world. My son absolutely devoured his 2012 one, so I was excited to get this one for 2013. Unfortunately, MUCH of the contect is identical...I would estimate over half at least. A disappointment for both of us.

I ordered this as a gift for my cousin's son.
I had it delivered to my hotel to be a surprise gift when i walked in with him.
I opened the amazon box and the wrapping was so bad that it looked unpresentable.
It was torn in the ends.
The book was fine and he likes it but it definitely was not worth the gift wrap

I ordered two of these for my son and his friend. They are both really smart and love to "self-educate". These books are perfect for them and thanks to Amazon I got two for the price of ONE at the school book fair. I haven't given them the books yet but I know they'll love them!

As always, Nat Geo delivers educational material in a fun, clear and encompassing fashion. The photos are beautiful and the layout of the contents is easy to read and folllow. A book even adults will enjoy! I would buy other books from the series in a wink!
