We buy this for our 10 years son and the product is great. Works perfectly, even can detect metal in concrete!!The control is simple to operate and the batery last longer that I was expecting.

Got it for my nephew for his birthday and he loved it. Or rather he loved finding spare change with it, sometimes with the detector, sometimes with his eyes! :o)

I purchased this item Dec 3rd for $59.99 and today find it on the same sight for $15.79. The item was not represented as a toy for someone 6 and over. It is truly only worth $15.79.

WE use this low priced detector when we are working in a hole at the mine dumps in the ooper of michigan. It works great to find the native copper and even the copper replacement agates that we hunt for. An added plus is that you can operate it without the long handle. Makes using it in digging holes a plus. true it may not go deep, but when you are working a hole it is perfect. It is also a great way to get kids hooked on metal detecting. PRICE ....DO NOT pay that expensive price. We bought ours for like $19.

I bought this for my nephew who wanted to look for stuff to dig up in our back yard. When it arrived I was amazed at how cheap it looked. When my nephew finally got a chance to use it, he was very unhappy with it's performance. It didn't detect anything really. I even placed some metal items on the ground and it still didn't pick up on it. After that first use, he never played with it again.

I purchased this several years ago at our local Target store for $15 for my nephew. Before I could get to it, the kids got to it and managed to offset the sound dial. My dad, who can fix anything, fixed it. It works like a charm and I was amazed at what it can find, and at what depth of item detection -about 3" down. He uses it also as a pinpointer for me when I am using my adult metal detector. His sisters wanted one. Had purchased another one at the same time to keep for a future gift. When it came time to buy the 3rd one, last Christmas, Target no longer carried the Nat Geo brand but the Kids Quest brand so had to purchase one of those...at least it was still $15.IT is the EXACT SAME MACHINE as the Nat Geo one tho I don't think it detects quite as well. And with the KQ, my dad had to take it apart and reset the sound dial even before the kids got to it this time. So, don't pay $50-ridiculous!- for the Nat Geo. one that is no longer made and listed here when the Kids Quest one from Target (if not in store they carry it online), or Amazon, will do just fine. Kids do need to take care of it, tho, or it will not work properly. It is a delicate "toy".

Great for kids to play with but is very inaccurate. Good for the preschoolers to play in the yard but that's about it.

This detector has worked fine for my 7 yr old. We don't use it often, so I don't know how it would hold up, but it's fun as a kid's toy or to look for a lost earring, etc..

This toy never worked. We installed the batteries and it made the slightest beep. My son never even bothered to use it as it went right in the trash. Do not buy this toy unless you want your child to be completely disappointed.
