As a retired teacher, I have only one thing to say....where were these books when I was seven. I learn something each time my Grandson and I read the book. I like that he wants to read the book to me.

I am a science educator. Astronomy and space exploration are one of my areas of special focus. I recently ordered and reviewed about twenty books on this subject before donating them to area libraries. This book is the best of the best - thorough, up to date, well illustrated, and easy to read and understand without "talking down" to kids.

Great book for a 4 year old boy. I learned a few things myself reading this book with him. Entertaining and educational.

While the Reed kids are particularly found of planet Earth, I thought this book would work well for summer reading and learning on the solar system. National Geographic books and magazines, especially for kids, are some of the best around. This book stands up to the Nat-Geo name. It has fun facts and plenty of easy-to-understand information about our universe. We plan to take this book on our road trip next month and engage the children with trivia for bubbles and stickers. Thanks Nat Geo!

My four-year-old grandson loves this book. It has heightened his interest in the planets and space travel. Even now he's excited by the publication of the images of three highly active volcanoes on Jupiter's moon Io. A Chicago boy, he has twice visited the Adler Planetarium since receiving the books and has learned a tremendous amount about planets, dwarf planets, TNO, etc. His grandmother has been taxed in trying to stay a few hours ahead of his knowledge. I could not recommend the book more, for children, parents, and grandparents!

This is a great book (and the series) for young minds. Purchased it for a nephew and it was a very enjoyable read. We have purchased many others since. Link: [[ASIN:1426306520 National Geographic Readers:]
