The National Geographic "TOPO", USGS Topographic Maps (Arkansas, Lousiana, and Mississippi), series is a HUGE money saver. If you have any computer savvy at all, it is super easy to install and to run without the need to even read the directions. You can customize and print any section of the Topos you are interested in three states for a total cost of only aorund $50.00 plus some paer and ink. There are 5 detail levels based on the USGS series, and the detail is fantastic. I know one favorite spot for hiking and biking, The Tunica Hills of SE Lousiana and SW Mississippi, was going to cost me about $120 for simple paper tops at the local map/cartography supllier. With TOPO, for only $50, I was able to zero in on the specifc sections I was most interested in, make customized waypoints and routes, get distance, eleveation profiles, and even 3D live motion previews of the routes so I could get an idea of the route before I even got there. This progream also easily downloads all the info to a number of handheld GPSs. WT
