Editorial Reviews

Warning: This video is dangerous if you don't want your kids knowing more than you do. Of course, you can always watch it with them. Maybe you already have that Easter Island versus Stonehenge thing sorted out, but did you know that some of the three-story-tall Easter Island heads have torsos buried underground? An alien spaceship cleaning crew accidentally launched toward Earth looks at this planet's mysteries in this installment of National Geographic's series for grade school kids. Captain Rip Rayon does his trench-coated Robert Stack impersonation for humor, while Orb, the suspended eyeball narrator, gives the crew and audience the background on each phenomenon and discusses scientific theories on how they came to exist. The crew also visits Peru to look at large geometric patterns carved into the earth and to Mexico for a look at the ruins of the 2,000-year-old Mayan civilization that disappeared 1,000 years ago. The spaceship then swings by for an overview of crop circles before disappearing into the Bermuda Triangle. --Kimberly Heinrichs
