Does a life as an undersea treasure hunter tempt you? This National Geographic video shows how Mel Fisher (and that really is his last name) spent 16 years in search of the Nuestra Señora de Atocha, a Spanish galleon that sank in 1622 with 40 tons of gold and silver and 70 pounds of emerald contraband. Hundreds of people have tried to find the lost treasure, and hundreds of people have failed. Fisher, however, was absolutely positive that he could find the treasure. This is a great story, not only because it celebrates the treasure found, but because it also shows the painstaking process of trying to find it. Almost every day Fisher and his team dove in search of it, and when the weather would not permit them to dive they discussed other possible locations. Locating where the boat sank was made possible through a historian who chanced upon an audit listing the cargo on board and where the ship sunk. Before this lucky find Fisher was looking in a 100-square-mile area. This audit reference narrowed it down to a 20-square-mile area. The romance of discovering secret treasure is glorified here and told with great exuberance and the result is an entertaining story. --Samantha Allen Storey

They all worked SO hard for what they believed in. This documentary will let you see just how much determination one man and his believers can have and how it feels to live a dream that comes true.
