4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious
This movie is so funny! Totally corny, but take it and all other National Lampoon films with a grain of salt. I have fond memories of watching this with my mom and little brother when I was 10 or so. I just saw it again the other night on cable and you definitely need to watch the unedited version to get all the laughs out of it!

I picked this up in the cheapie bin, and I suggest you find it there too. It isnt worth much, honestly. It's got some pretty funny moments, but it's not classic funny like Animal House and Vacation. So find it cheap and it's worth it, but dont pay more then ten bucks.

Theres no bonus features or anything, apparently the US version comes with a booklet, but even if ours did I dont think I wouldve done more the flicked through for a glance if that.

It's not dull or boring, it flows rather well, but I predicted the plot a qaurter of the way into the movie, and I think you could too, so the end was pretty much suspected. There is some pretty good effects, espeicely for an 80's film. I heard something about this movie original intended to be a sequel to Animal House, but they obviously didnt do it that way, but the guy who played Ken Dorfman in AH is in this film as a diffrent charactor, as well as a few familuer faces but I dont know there names.

Worthy of a rent, worth the money as long as you dont have to pay alot and yur sure to get a laugh or few out of it!

4.0 out of 5 stars I Love Zane Busby!!!, March 19, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Wacky! Goofy! Stoooopid!!! Fun! This slasher film parody has me in stitches everytime I watch it. Zane Busby as the cripple who sold her soul to the devil is one of the best character performers of all time. Her facial expressions and side comments crack me up. The late Ann Ramsey (Throw Mama From The Train)as the cafeteria worker brings back memories(?) of mystery meat lunches and creamed whatever that green goop was as part of the high school nutrition program. The few off-color bits in the film are done well and not disgusting or shocking. I've heard and seen worse on late night talk shows! All we needed now was to have Elvira show up as the guidance councillor or school nurse! A job well done on DVD.

3.0 out of 5 stars Zane Busby is memorable, April 14, 2008

This review is from: National Lampoon's Class Reunion (DVD)
There isn't much memorable about this 1982 movie, but it was mildly enjoyable. Zane Busby/Buzby as the possessed woman sticks out in my memory, though. She was simply fantastic. Hilariously snide at all times to her fellow class reunionists, and stealing the entire show at many points! Her garish makeup job reminds me of Twisted Sister's move to the same outlandish, garish look in 83 and 84! I wonder if there was an influence there? I would see this movie again solely for a nostalgic revisit to her performance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Class Reunion Rocks, June 19, 2000
By A Customer
National Lampoon's Class Reunion is a murder mystery with a slight twist -- a comic one. The entire movie is a series of funny quips and happenings, making the movie-watcher laugh until their sides ache. Class Reunion is set in an old closed-up school where they are currently having their class reunion, and the people are hilarious, from the snobs to the exchange student from Transylvania. Suddenly people start getting murdered, and the entire party breaks up to find the culprit. The ending is quite a surprise, and I think you will enjoy it as much as I do. There are a few big names in this movie, but at that time they were so young, it's strange to see them. All in all, this movie is great, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to watch it. Compared to all the other National Lampoon movies, I would say it is most like Animal House with it's comedy. I would rate it as one of the classics of the 80's!

This movie is very funny. I watched it at least 1000 times when I was 12, and I know it by heart. If something in here doesn't make you laugh, get help.

3.0 out of 5 stars A class reunion worth attending, July 28, 2007

George Graham (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: National Lampoon's Class Reunion (DVD)
Okay, my title sucks, but this movie doesn't. Lately, National Lampoon has released so many pieces of you-know-what that I doubted there were any good movies out there by them that I hadn't seen. Then I saw Class Reunion at a video store and noticed it was a.) not one of the millions being released this year and b.) written by John Hughes himself (responsible for the Lampoon's best besides Animal House, Vacation). I found it for a reasonable price here on Amazon, and it is hilarious. It's not at Animal House or even Vacation level, but it has many funny moments.
The plot concerns a troubled man named Walter that was the butt of a cruel prank by the high school seniors, and now at the 10-year high school reunion, Walter has escaped from the loony bin to seek revenge. One of the best parts of the movie is recognizing all of the high school stereotypes, twisted gleefully by Hughes as he has done so many times (Weird Science, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, the list goes on), like the preppy class president, the equally preppy prude, the blind girl (why not?), the guy no one remembers (Gary...something), the horny fat guy (played with gusto by Stephen "Flounder" Furst himself), and... the crippled chick that sold her soul to the Devil to be cured so now can produce fire. I remember someone like that at my high school, except she could produce ice.
Anyway, for any Lampoon fans that weep for its future, look at this movie from its past and hope to God they can start making good movies again.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK Lampoon movie good for silly laughs., June 8, 1999
By A Customer
This isn't one of the best Lampoon movies, but it's not one of the worst, either. The story is: Blackie Dammett comes back to get revenge on his classmates for playing a joke on him involving class babe Shelley Smith. Some great actors in here: Gerrit Graham, Stephen Furst, Michael Lerner, Barry Diamond. The movie can be silly at times, but a fun silly. I have no clue why it's rated R. There's barely any swearing, no violence, and a brief nudity scene that's not all that flattering.

1.0 out of 5 stars Animal House this in not!, August 14, 2009

This review is from: National Lampoon's Class Reunion (DVD)
What an unbelievably crappy John Hughes movie. There I said it. The storyline is boring, the high school looks like a set from a '30's Dracula movie and the actors should have been paid more for having to put up with such an unbelieveably stupid script. This goes to show all of us that just because a movie has the National Lampoon production credit doesn't mean a thing. Trading on Animal House's popularity, this movie does a great discredit to anything related to NatLamp. Gerrit Graham was great in Used Cars............in this fiasco he just sucked.

If you say you got some laughs from this movie you're either eight years old or have some issues with what is paraded about as "comedy". Save your money, save your time........or better off, buy an old issue of Nation Lampoon Magazine and get some real laughs.
