About the Author
Connie Toops is a free-lance natural history writer and photographer. Her work appears in numerous conservation magazines. Previous books include
Birds of South Florida, The Alligator, and Crater Lake Trails. Connie formerly worked as a seasonal park ranger, and her husband, Pat, is a career National Park Service employee. They lived on a wilderness barrier island at Gulf Islands National Seashore for over three years.
