A topic somewhat out of the mainstream, but well done, August 27, 2007
This review is from: Nationalism and Sexuality: Respectability and Abnormal Sexuality in Modern Europe (Paperback)
The review to which this one was a response (written before Amazon let you comment on other people's reviews) has since been removed. The reviewer gave the book one star because he did not like homosexuals. I though Mosse deserved better, and wrote:
Because he was an openly gay male, it is understandable that Mosse was interested in how homosexuals were viewed in the 3rd Reich. He also broadened his scope to consider sexuality in general in this unique period of history. The book is well done, and although the topic may not appeal to the average reader, it is unfair to give him a low rating just because you find the topic distasteful. Mosse was a first-rate scholar and an engaging writer, whether you agree with his sexual inclinations or not.
