The Nats in Pix,

This book is a collection of wonderful pictures of all the Washington players we heard about as kids. I never saw Bucky Harris play or manage, but he was a scout for the expansion Senators. Sam Rice, Joe Judge, Muddy Ruel... they are all in the book.
While the players are in the foreground of pictures, there's alot going on in the background. There are also interesting views of Griffith Stadium and the then new DC Stadium (RFK)in the background. Locker room shots that match the movie shot from Damn Yankees. Uniforms through the years, how the fans dressed, ushers, cleaning crew; it's all here - in the background anyway. Nice Griffth family shot when Calvin was a young boy. Not filled with stats, this book is more like the family album with interesting captions. |
