About the Author
Theda Perdue is Atlanta Distinguished Term Professor of Southern Culture at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned an M.A. and a Ph.D. at the University of Georgia, Athens. Dr. Perdue is the author of fourteen books on Native American history and culture, including the multiple-award-winning Cherokee Women: Gender and Culture Change, 1700-1835.
