This device is a small black box with jacks for audio input, audio output, a USB port, and input output gain controls. Hookup is easy. The software is a version of Guitar Rig 4 that is the LE version and is useful, but not very. The software can be upgraded at little expense making this system very flexible. It allows one to select guitar configurations that would not be economically possible otherwise. We have used this system live, directly to the board with no issues. We have also used it in the studio and can see other uses for it. It is a handy audio interface with a wide array of uses. We give it only 4 stars as it has only one audio output. Two outputs would have allowed for stage monitors, headphones and so forth. A belt clip or some kind of mounting hardware would have made it less troublesome. For the aspiring guitarist with a laptop to the pro lugging around a large amp array, this is the way to go.

This is the only product of its kind that I own so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I absolutely love it. It allows multiple combinations and effects pedals to try out. It only costs 100 bucks, but you get to preset effects for pedals that cost a lot more. You have access to flangers, wahs, distortion, delay, etc... You can also lay down backing tracks using 2 tape decks provided. You simply click and record. You can save your tracks in a folder and play back whenever you want. You can also use their preset tracks to play with. A great tool for trying out different sounds and for creating backing tracks to play with. Some of the more expensive forms of this software have more sound options and effects, but this should satisfy most guitar players, especially for the price.

I got one of these from a different retailer and it came broken. I cannot get it fixed, or replaced, and due to the licensed software nobody will take it back. It is a disappointing little black box that doesnt work and the company that made it has given my the runaround for months. DO NOT GET THIS!!!

I purchased this item not realizing I was getting a watered down "light" version that sounds like crap. I discovered the demo of the full version and yeah.. all the great tones are there but you can only play for 30 minutes in the demo mode and then you have to restart the application and no settings are saved. Just to make sure you don't abuse the demo mode, they add buzzing sounds, cut off the audio for a few seconds here and there.. pretty much making the Guitar Rig Mobile impossible to use without the upgrade. And even if you do click "upgrade now" you are taken either to a blank 404 page or led around on a stupid chase trying to find what exactly you are supposed to purchased to get the serial code. More of an annoyance than what the thing is worth if you ask me. I would not recommend it.
