I'm not sure why the previous reviewer is mad about Retro Machines mkII or the evoucher not being physically included in the collection. I received an email a few days after ACTIVATING, not purchasing, the product. The email included a download link to Retro Machines mkII and my $30 evoucher. I'd bet the reviewer before me received both of these a day or two after activating / posting their review. There is no problem at all with Retro Machines mkII or the evoucher.
The "false advertising" claims aside (this is irrelevant), the fact is that Komplete 8 includes an insane amount of programs, samples, plug-ins, etc. The value of all this included content far exceedes the $549 pricetag, whether there are truly "27 included products" or not. With software like Kontakt and Reaktor retailing for $399 each, if you have the extra $150 dollars to spend, Komplete 8 is a no brainer.
The only cons of Komplete 8 are the software installation. Like the previous reviewer said, Komplete 8 is installed through 12 dual layer DVDs. This leads to long (2 hours plus) install times. However, considering installations are a one-time, this seems like splitting hairs to me. While an external harddrive for USB 2.0 installation would be ideal, the time it takes to install software is not a major factor in my opinion.
All in all, Komplete 8 is one of the best deals in the industry.Read more ›
I am also surprised by the remarks about MKII not being available and deceptive advertisting about it. They clearly tell you that you get a link to download it AFTER you register the product. I registered and received via email my discount coupon and a download link to get MKII in under 24 hours. If your ISP does not let you download large files I would suggest seeking out a different ISP. That just is a silly reason to criticize the company. I WILL say that the Windows installation process for MKII has a slight issue in that there are two files to download. The larger one is a DVD image that you can burn to disk and install off of. The smaller file is an executable that allows you to load the larger downloaded file without burning to DVD. The problem is that the file does not have an .exe extension so Windows does not know it is an executable.Read more ›
They`ve included so much usable sound in these programs that IMO anyone who disputes that the included instruments and libraries are on the light side, and have false advertising, I would have to respectfully REALLY disagree..That`s not to say that some of the older products from previous versions might be redundant (that`s debatable) but from the sheer width of sound pallets to choose from, and the upgraded patches from some of the classics (Massive, Guitar Rig, Absynth etc) this package is a winner.
Without going into each plug I can say that NI sounds are always on my first call when producing music..The new Vintage Organs are as good as a simulated B3 can get.
The pianos, electric and acoustic are all usable and clean. The new West Africa perc program has already saved my ass when I got a call for something that needed that sound.
Reaktor alone could be worth the price of the whole package..Not to mention that you can go on the NI user page and download HUNDREDS of FREE ensembles for Reaktor (I`ve DL`ed a bunch of very usable and innovative ones) and I haven`t even tried to do the same with Guitar Rig and others..PS, the new Guitar Rig effects are a major leap from where I was back in Komplete 5. You can use lots of those GR efx for your mixes, on your EFX send channels as well as your master track.
I`ve only begun to explore the new additions like Prizm and all the others so maybe I`ll either update or leave that part to another reviewer.Read more ›
