Great Teaching Book, May 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Native Peoples (The Discovering Canada Series) (Paperback)
As a fifth grade teacher of Canada and Latin America I have been searching for great books about Canada to share with my students. On our field trip to Fort George, I came across this book and wished that I had it when I taught my class about the Native peoples of Canada. This book not only covers the required information, but includes other information for students in regards to what life was life for the Indian peoples. A great addition, besides the illustrations, are simple hand-on activities that do not require you to find materials that are not already in your classroom. I can't wait to get the other books in the series.

Interesting content and suggestions for hands-on activities included, October 6, 2011
This review is from: Native Peoples (The Discovering Canada Series) (Paperback)
I read this book aloud to my children as part of our studies on Native Nations.
This book is part of the Discovering Canada series. I found that the content was interesting, and I liked that the book included some suggestions for hands-on activities. The language is more suitable for older children (recommended reading level is ages 9-12), so it was a good fit for my 9 year-old daughter. Her favourite parts of the book were the legends and myths of the different native tribes.
The detailed black and white illustrations on each two-page spread were my favourite part of the book!
MY RATING: 3 stars! It was good! I enjoyed it!
