The short stories range from one to four pages and vary in complexity and readability. Some are pourquoi stories, and some are cautionary tales, but all involve the relationship of the two-legged and the four-legged with their immediate plant world. Bruchac provides solid background information in his introduction, and each carefully selected story is accompanied by a black-and-white line drawing.
