4.0 out of 5 stars It Works But It Is Not a Miracle Drug
My 6 year old son has been on Bright Spark since late December, for about 8 weeks. I also give him "Calm Child," a liquid herbal formula. He has always had challenges staying focused in school and has a lot of aggression and impulsivity that shows up in class, particularly toward his classmates. He has a high IQ so I think he is probably dual-diagnosis ADHD and a bit...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very dissapointed
I could not wait to try this remedy on my son. When I came across BrightSpark online, it seem like a miracle. It described my son completely. I followed directions on the bottle for 4 weeks - we see no difference.

My 6 year old son has been on Bright Spark since late December, for about 8 weeks. I also give him "Calm Child," a liquid herbal formula. He has always had challenges staying focused in school and has a lot of aggression and impulsivity that shows up in class, particularly toward his classmates. He has a high IQ so I think he is probably dual-diagnosis ADHD and a bit gifted (and perhaps bored in class). Nevertheless, he was constantly being sent to the principal's office for various in-class "incidents" and we just got tired of being called by the principal and having all the messages he receives be so negative. We have taken him to psychotherapy and a psychiatrist and also had him evaluated by his school psychologists, social worker, occupational therapists, etc. None has given us a definitive diagnosis of ADHD, but have noted his hyperactivity and aggression as issues in school. We have tried vitamin therapy and other natural remedies for ADHD, which helped only marginally (it took away some of the impulsivity/ aggression). But 8 weeks into this supplement, we finally have real progress. He has been having much, much better days at school. Less incidents and his teacher has been praising his behavior more. He still has some rough days, but not nearly as frequently or at the level that he did before. His teacher can now work with him through a reward chart system instead of just seeming exasperated by him. And at home we have a completely different child! He is more compliant, less aggressive/angry, willing to listen, focused, and generally a more "normal" child than ever before. To be clear, this is NOT a miracle drug. We have coupled this treatment with a very structured reward and consequences system at home (including behavior contracts) and with other strategies to help him with social skills, focus, and emotional regulation. What this treatment has done is to take the edge off of his hyperactivity and impulsivity and made him a MUCH easier child to work with. I think it's important to stay on schedule with this supplement for it to be effective. And I also think it's important to give the supplement time to work. We did notice positive changes right away but the full range of the change only manifested as time went on. That is why I waited to review this product. In short: be realistic about your expectations, be consistent with the medication, and couple this with other strategies to help your child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works wonders for my 12 year old, March 16, 2009
This review is from: Native Remedies BrightSpark, 125-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
My son has ADD and I dont believe in giving him the usual prescription drugs. I would rather my son get a little help than become a zombie. I did some researched on Brightspark and thought I would try it. I first took it myself to see if there were any funny feelings or loopiness. I felt as if I had taken nothing. So I gave it to my son that had been having a hard time in school. He could not stay still in class he was disruptive and had a hard time focusing on his work. I didnt tell his teacher that I was giving him anything. I was very happy to hear in our last parent teacher meeting that he was doing much better in class. She pin pointed the time of his improvemnt to the time I started giving him the Brightspark. My son doesnt feel any difference when he takes it but he does notice that he has the ability to control his behavior better. I purchase it every few weeks in fear that I will run out.

My 7 year old child is ADHD and this product has changed our lives. He is much calmer but still is full of life. This has taken the edge off the anxiety that my child experiences. He is able to deal with issues that would normally REALLY upset him. Highly recommened for mild cases of ADHD.

So far so good. Don't expect this to work over night. We did see a huge change in my daughters behavior after two weeks. She is 7 years old and has ADHD as well as Autism. It may not be the answer but it has certainly helped. She has not had any stomach problems or any other side effects that we can tell. It's worth trying but keep in mind it may be 2 - 6 weeks before you can determine if this is what will work for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars tic reduction, February 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Native Remedies BrightSpark, 125-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
Our six and a half year old son has transient tic disorder with many different large motor tics and some facial tics, possible vocal tic. It is likely undiagnosed low spectrum Tourette's. We use Bright Spark regularly along with the brain tonic tablets (same company) and also a magnesium and taurine tablet sold elsewhere. His tics have gone from socially awkward to almost non-existent. Also, his attention and grades have greatly improved. It is a waxing and waning disorder, but even when waxing his symptoms are much less severe. This was part of an approach that included removing allergy causing foods (we went to an allergist and were amazed to discover so many sensitivities), chiropractic care (a significant cause of tic development can be caused by traumatic birth or injury years earlier), omega 3 and magnesium supplements, and Bright Spark and Triple Complex Brain Tonic from Native Remedies. It took a few weeks to start seeing results - but it definitely helps! He likes the taste, small and easy to manage. It has also helped with sleep disturbance, problems with waking in the middle of the night. We have our son back - thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright Spark has been a answer to a prayer, June 8, 2011

This review is from: Native Remedies BrightSpark, 125-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
My 6 yr old son was acting out in class and being impulsive...He is a smart boy academically and loves to talk...I went to his school and observed his behavior and he just couldn't stay focused and always out of his seat, he was also talking with out permission and this was more than just being a 6yr old. I knew the teachers were suggesting in a subtle way he needed meds. I had seen the result of what adhd meds had done to my friends children and was't willing to go that route. I prayed for a solution other than the adhd meds. My son also sufferes with severe asthma and ezcema. I did my own research and found an article that there was a link between children with ashthma and ezcema & adhd. Children with ashthma and ezcema are more prone to be diagnoised with adhd. I then found a video on how bright spark had helped children without making them into zoombies. I first ordered the bright spark and tried it without telling the teachers and within a week we all could see a change. Then in busyness of life i didnt give it to him as directed and we noticed the behavior returned. I got him back on track and he has been doing great. So for us personally bright spark has been an answer to a prayer. The key is being consistant administering it. He still has his personality and loves to talk, but now he can control behavior and his talking.

My husband and I were a little hesitant about using a supplement for our son's behavior, but we are so glad we decided to give it a try. This product really works...We saw an improvement almost immediately (within the first week)! The only bad thing was that we only purchased one bottle. So, when it was gone, the behavior returned. We will definitely stay stocked in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent alternative to prescribed medication, October 1, 2010
This review is from: Native Remedies BrightSpark, 125-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I was skeptical, but now I know this product works. The trick is to give it regularly. It doesn't seem to work if you miss doses. I tried this on my son last year and had mixed results. He only took the Brightspark, Focus Formula and Attend about half the time. It started out great and went downhill as many doses were missed.

This year, I've tried it again. He is now taking the three products at the product recommended schedule and he is calm, thoughtful, and studious. He is making A's at school and is far less argumentative with his sisters, less impulsive, and tells me that he feels like he can pay attention better.

Folks, this stuff works, but you cannot miss doses or you might as well start over.

One helpful tip, there is a 6 hour ramp up for the Brightspark (1 pill per hour for 6 hours) the first time you put them on a dosage schedule. I've found that doing this at night is best. Waking my son up every hour was easier on him than making him go on an empty stomach for 6 hours during the day. Just a tip to try.

Like a lot of the other reviews on the internet, my daughter's pre school teacher asked me to get her evaluated from behavior issues, she is not ADD or ADHD, but has a hard time focusing and have tantrums if she has to transition from one activity to another. I first started with Tantrum tamer and then added Brightspark after reading reviews here.

Within 1 wk I was getting a different report from her teacher. Within 2 weeks, teacher says she is no longer an issue, within 3wks the teacher was raving about her and how focus she is. Thank you Native Remedies.
