It mated right up to my Google Nexus phone's Bluetooth right out of the box. Just hold in the big button on top and it finds the phone.
The speaker sound rates "pretty good" I set it across the hotel room from me and played MP3s through it and it sounds as good as most speakers. Volume control is right on top, turn right to increase, left to decrease. The big white button turns it on and off.
Phone quality is good as you can use it as a stand-alone speakerphone/conference phone. Add in folks with your phone as normal to the call as it works like would be expected. Like all speaker phones, background noise will drive it a little wacky. In bound phone clarity is nice and the microphone could pick me up if I walked away from the unit.
Charges using a USB cable. A neat function is that you can plug the USB in backwards into the "USB OUT" jack and use the speaker as a charger for your cell-phone or other USB device. This is nice if you are on the road and forget to charge your phone.
It seems more substantial than the 1 pound it says it is. It stands up right and is really compact so it does not take up any room in the laptop bag.
It will definitely be traveling with me in the future.
It’s both a bluetooth speaker for music and a bluetooth hands-free conference phone. I’ve found that I like it more as a conference phone than a speaker, but that’s subjective.
First: pairing. It paired to my iPhone right out of the box. A quick start guide is provided and is helpful, but it’s easy to figure out how to pair without the guide.
Second: streaming music from my phone to the speaker. Once the phone was paired to the NU SWITCH it was easy to have my iPhone stream music from the Music app. The SWITCH started playing it in less than a second. The sound is decent. It won’t impress audiophiles, and it’s not loud enough to have a house party with, but it is better than most bluetooth speakers I’ve heard. This is no doubt due to its separate drivers and subwoofer, which is a nice combination to have in a speaker of this size.
Third: the really cool feature is how well this speaker serves as a mobile conference phone. With it a group can sit around anywhere (well, maybe not a crowded, noisy restaurant or Starbucks) and speak via one bluetooth linked smartphone to whomever they are calling. Noise cancellation is effective, and audio quality for calls is great. In short, the NU SWITCH allows you to take your conference phone anywhere—you aren’t tied to an office landline.
It’s controlled via a neat round button/dial that acts as both an on/off switch and volume control. Overall the design is very nice: it earns bonus points for its cool looks.
It charges via USB and the battery lasts for hours. Native Union claims up to 14 hours of music, and probably much more as just a conference phone.Read more ›
We are very pleased with the Switch, it easily links to our iMac and iPhone. It's range is about 30 feet as advertised and the quality of sound is excellent with plenty of volume and little or no distortion. The advertised charge is about 14 hours of use which appears to be accurate. Excellent and sturdy product. Don't let the small size fool you.
The Switch has four different ports which include the auxiliary port, the phone port (for conference calls), micro USB in for charging the speaker, and USB out for charging one's device. Included with the speaker is a braided aux cord and micro USB cord that are the same color as the speaker. The braided cords are an added bonus because they do not fray as easily and do not tangle as easily than the conventional cords.
The volume dial is great for adjusting the sound of music or calls to the perfect level because it is precise and easy to turn. There is a feedback sound when the full volume is reached indicated that it has reached the maximum output of sound. Inside of the volume dial is the multipurpose button for turning off/on the speaker, putting it into pairing mode, playing and pausing music, and answering and hanging up calls. The LED next to the volume dial indicates what mode the speaker is in so in pairing mode, the speaker will alternate between white and red flashes. On the opposite end of the volume dial, on the speaker, is the LED indicator that shows the battery percentage left on the speaker.
The battery life on the Switch is impressive. I usually only have to charge it once every few weeks. I use the device about every few days for a couple of hours on average.
Build quality is great on the Switch. It is made of a soft touch plastic with a matte finish so it does not pick up fingerprints or scratch easily.Read more ›
