I bought this cd not knowing about the movie, and I was pleasantly surprised. The artist on this cd range from Kenny Rogers to Amy
Grant, Selah, Barlow Girl,Jodee Messina, and others. I absolutely love this cd. It is peacefull and moving, a truely wonderful addition to any music collection. The message on this cd is not just for Chirstmas time, but for the whole year through.

I BOUGHT THIS SOUNDTRACK BEFORE I EVEN SAW THE MOVIE, AND FROM THE OPENING TRACK IT WAS SO MOVING. JACI VELASQUEZ HAS A VOICE THAT WILL SEND CHILLS UP AND DOWN YOUR SPINE. "BREATH OF HEAVEN" BY AMY GRANT, A SONG ON ONE OF HER PREVIOUS CHRISTMAS ALBUMS, IS A PERSONAL AND EMOTIONAL SONG FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF MARY, ALTHOUGH ANY REAL MOTHER CAN SOME WHAT RELATE TO. ALL OF THE SONGS ARE AMAZING. POINT OF GRACE'S "FOR UNTO US" IS ANOTHER REAL HIGHLIGHT ON THE ALBUM, IN ADDITION TO "LABOR OF LOVE". JUST LISTEN FOR YOURSELF, CLOSE YOUR EYES, AND IMAGINE WHAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR MARY AND JOSEPH TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS. WE ARE NOT THANKFUL ENOUGH, AND WE TAKE OUR LIVES FOR GRANTED. TRUST ME, NO CHRISTMAS MUSIC COLLECTION IS COMPLETE WITHOUT THIS ALBUM, AND THE SCORE AS WELL. THESE SONGS ARE CHRISTMAS ORIENTED, BUT CAN BE ENJOYED YEAR ROUND. THESE SONGS INSPIRED BY THIS WONDERFUL STORY TRUELY ARE SACRED AND WELL CRAFTED. THE VOCALS ARE DONE RESPECTFULLY AND INSTRUMENTALY IT'S HAUNTING, MOVING, PEACEFUL, AND TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY. IT REALLY SETS A MOOD. THE MEANING THAT IS BUILT INTO THESE SONGS REALLY TRANSCENDS HIGHER THAN YOUR AVERAGE CHRISTMAS CD ABOUT RUDOLPH, SANTA, AND A BUNCH OF SNOW. THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS WILL COME BACK, AND IT ALREADY IS. THE WORLD NEEDS THIS MOVIE, AND WE ALL NEED TO GET ON OUR KNEES AND THANK GOD FOR WHAT HE DID FOR US. BUY THIS SOUNDTRACK AND SUPPORT THIS MOVIE THAT DOES NOTHING BUY SPREAD A POSITIVE MESSAGE AND MEANING.

While the whole CD is wonderful, the song, "The Virgin's Lullaby" is worth the price of the CD. I've listened to it over and over and it's not even Christmas!

I bought this thinking that it was the soundtrack for the movie. It is a collection of songs from the movie sung my country singing stars. The cover is almost the same one used to represent the movie and I feel very ripped off! I'll give it to my daughter since I have no use for it and she enjoys country music.

Also it is currently going for half the price I paid for it. sooooo frustrating

love the CD purchased it because I like it when I heard it from a friend and the only place I could find it was on-line. The only problem was the case was cracked.

The tracks listed here as being associated with the first run feature film THE NATIVITY STORY are not the soundtrack. I don't know what this is that's being sold this way. The soundtrack is by Mychal Danna and is to die for. His rendition of SILENS NOX is unlike anything you've ever heard and the way he crafted music to underscore the visual images is enough to move you to tears. The songs listed above are not part of the movie.

In looking over the reviews, I can't believe anyone did not enjoy this CD, even if it isn't the original soundtrack. This is the most moving, most reverant, most praise filled music that I have heard in a long time. My absolute favorites are Not a Silent Night, Virgin's Lullaby and Mary Did You Know. I know the individual artists will never read this, but I thank you for stirring a fire in my soul each time I hear it and believe me, God and his angels are smiling...

I bought this CD, because I love Christmas music and I'm always looking for something that is different, but that leaves me with a good feeling. I had heard one of the songs playing at a church Christmas production and loved some of the songs on it. I also played it for my mom and she liked it as well.

This is an absolutely beautiful Christmas CD. I recieved it as a gift and promplty bought 2 more to give as gifts! A couple of the songs are very powerful and I was glad to see all the Christian artists involved.

Other reviews have pointed out this is not the soundtrack for the movie. Thus, don't get this with that misconception. My interest in this was due to the artists -- some of my favorite artists such as Point Of Grace, Jill Phillips, and Nicole C. Mullen are on this.

As a various artist collection, you cannot miss with this collection. Eight of the selections are Christmas classics ("Mary, Did You Know" is one I'm counting in that category), and the remainder are more original. One of those is "For Unto Us", sung by Point of Grace, which is Handelesque but not Handel's rendition.

Some of these songs may have been previously released. "Breath Of Heaven" by Amy Grant is over a decade old. I believe the duet of Kenny Rogers and Wynonna singing "Mary, Did You Know?" and LeAnn Rimes singing "O Holy Night" are also previously available.

One thing about this project is it does arrange the songs in the form of the story, as opposed to a random ordering of the songs.

My favorite tracks on this project are "For Unto Us", "Labor Of Love" by Jill Phillips with Andrew Peterson, "Angels We Have Heard On High" by Nicole C. Mullen, and "For The Beauty Of The Earth" by Barlow Girl.
