I have found that I sleep best when I take one of these, i.e. 100 mg. Please be advised that 5-HTP can cause very vivid dreams which might be disturbing to some people. I don't mind them given the trade off, a better night's sleep. There is a 50 mg size if this is too muchdor you

I am taking this product occasionally for menopause symptoms. I was offered hormones/ medication from my doctor but refused because of side effects.
I only take this pill if necessary for irritable or blue feelings. (About every 6 weeks)
I will not even notice that shortly after I am balanced again. The pills do not seem to do anything but give me a feeling of balance.
At first I suffered from nausea after taking the pill/capsule with water but later crushed the pill or opened the capsule and took with food.
Now that there is no nausea I will take when I'm feeling menopausal (it works perfectly).

My (59 year-old) father had a very very bad reaction to Natrol 5MG time release. He was on NO other medications, reasonably healthy (works 40 hours a week), non-smoker and only took Natrol TWICE (two different days and 1 pill only).

He had SEVERE itching, his urine turned orange, he had difficulty swallowing, nausea, and even lost his appetite! He also had liver or kidney sharp pain and almost had to go in to the emergency room! When labwork (bloodwork) was done his liver enzymes were abnormally extremely high!

PLEASE ANYONE READING THIS,DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE A CHANCE THAT YOU WON'T EXPERIENCE THESE SYMPTOMS!!!

I called the corporate office for Natrol. The phone number kept ringing and ringing. Eventually I got in contact with them and they refunded my Dad the $7.00 cost.

I was told by a corporate rep on the phone that the time release formula has a "certain ingredient" in there, which my father had an allergic reacton to.
