I have used melatonin as a sleep aid for years. I find the common 3mg tablets are more than necessary and prefer the lowest dosage of 1 mg.
They are a bit harder to find but no need to O.D. if you don't need to. Also dials down the dreams to near zero for me.

I've taken melatonin a long time, and it definitely works for me. I really like this 1mg dosage, which is very hard to find in drugs stores. It is the perfect dosage for me. I fall asleep within 20 minutes, but I never feel drugged out. I much prefer this over the 3mg version, since I don't seem to need the extra dose.

I actually ordered this product for my dog. It's suppsoed to increase hair growth in sparse areas and calm nervous dogs - can't say that this did either of those things for my dog. However, I don't question the quality of the melatonin.
