5.0 out of 5 stars Finally something that works!
First, thanks to the other reviews that led me to purchase this melatonin. I became interested in melatonin after reading an article for people who have trouble sleeping. I wake up every night at 3a.m, and have trouble going back to sleep. The article indicated that melatonin resets your sleep rhythms, and helps sleeping through the night. I purchased these and LOVE them...

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not help you fall asleep
Thee pills did not help me fall asleep any faster. Also, since these are just supplements, they have not been "evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration".

What I have noticed though is that I have more dreams that I can remember while I am taking these. Might be just placebo effect though, I don't know.

I wake up every night at 3a.m, and have trouble going back to sleep. The article indicated that melatonin resets your sleep rhythms, and helps sleeping through the night. I purchased these and LOVE them. I've taken sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and other things prescribed to sleep before, but the melatonin works the best for me. I do have lots of dreams, but I wake up feeling like I got the best sleep ever! I saw my doctor last week and asked if there was any problems with me taking these regularly and he said no, I could take it every night if I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars MELATURIFIC, November 9, 2006
This review is from: Natrol Melatonin Timed Release Tablets, 3mg 100 ea (Health and Beauty)
I originally started with regular melatonin and it worked to get me asleep but would wear off very fast. This time released product has a lasting effect with no side effects.......yet.....thank God.

Melatonin Time Release helps you to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep through the night. However, don't take it unless you do have 8 hours to sleep or somewhere close to it. If you do, you will feel groggy when you get up in the morning. I highly recommend it for people who have trouble sleeping.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good...but almost too good, February 26, 2011

I've tried one other brand of melatonin, 3mg, from a friend (which is why I can't remember the brand) but the "normal" vs. time released is a big difference. With the non-time released, I fall asleep fast, however I do wake up about 4 hours later. It is usually quite easy to fall back to sleep though. With this natrol timed release, it is about equally as effective at helping to fall asleep, without any interruption in the night. Yet I have more trouble waking up and feel considerably more groggy in the am. I've decided to switch back to non-timed release, but I still give this 4 stars as it does exactly what it says, the whole 8 hours of it. I am somewhat sensitive to caffeine so I think my reaction to this melatonin may reflect that, as the "tired" feeling can extend 9-10 hours after I fall asleep.

I learned of timed release Melatonin from my MD about 2 years ago. I knew about Melatonin and while it did help me fall asleep, it did not keep me asleep. Timed release is the key. It worked from the first day and it is still working 2 years later. If you do have a night when you wake up at 2am, it's great because you can pop another one (I do 1/2), and still wake up refreshed. It does not give me that groggy feeling the next day. I was happy to find the Natrol here on Amazon because it is not an easy product to find. GNC has their brand but Natrol is a better bargain and works just as well. No tax and no shipping on Amazon...can't beat it.

I was having trouble sleeping because of general anxiety about an upcoming trip. So I started taking this and all my sleep problems went away almost immediately. So happy I didn't go waste time on a sleep study for the problems!
Now, the best part is that my dreams are completely insane and memorable. I have had lucid or partially lucid dreams for a month now- I am loving it. As a musician, I now feel like a lot of my best ideas are coming from my dreams.

This product works great. I take Lunesta two nights a week and this the rest of the week. It makes me sleepy in about an hr. I can say it works probably as good as Lunesta (however i'm on the lowest dose). It doesn't give me RLS like Benadryl or the Lunesta. My bf reports no kicking. lol

I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. The best solution I had found before trying this product was the prescription medication Zolpidem (Ambien). However, I had been advised by my doctor that it can be addictive and often requires an increased dosage to continue to be effective. I also tried Sleep Aid, which you can get here on Amazon Kirkland Signature Nighttime Sleep Aid (Doxylamine Succinate 25 mg), 96-Count Tablets (Pack of 2) or you can get directly from Costco. I also wrote a review on these, in which I explain that I found them to be surprisingly effective, but almost too powerful. They caused me to feel very groggy when it was time to get up and face the day.

I tried this option at my doctor's suggestion (he suggested melatonin, not this particular brand, by the way). He told me that melatonin is something that the body produces naturally, but as we get older it tends to produce less of it, therefore making sleep more difficult. He suggested that I start out with one 3mg tablet, and if that didn't work, to increase it to two, and then if that didn't work, to try three, and if that didn't work, to forget it. Well, I never had to go past one 3mg tablet.

I take one pill 30 minutes to an hour before I go to sleep. They do not "knock you cold" into a deep sleep, so if that is what you are after you'll be disappointed. But, for me, they do make me drowsy and make it easy for me to fall asleep. I am not so sure about the time released feature that this particular brand boasts, but they do tend to keep me asleep at just the right level. What I mean by this is if, for example, I had to break out of my sleep for whatever reason, it would be easy for me to do so. I supposed the best way to describe its effect is that it pushes you into a "normal" sleep pattern.

Lastly, as other reviewers have written, taking them also makes me dream much more, so I supposed it puts me into a deeper realm of sleep, thus allowing me to get a deeper state of rest. I do feel more rested after taking these than I do after taking Ambien.

Keep in mind that this product, like most medications or supplements, will affect different people in different ways, so how they affected me may be quite different than how they may affect you. But, nevertheless, I wanted to share my own experience in case it might help you make a purchasing decision. Good luck and I hope this helped!

I had never heard of melatonin or its uses until my daughter's doctor recommended it. She is mentally disabled and has always been unable to put herself to sleep. She is now 13 and he recommended this, saying it is the only sleep aid that has been studied extensively and shown to work. We give it to her 30 minutes ahead of putting her to bed and she falls asleep within 20 minutes with no complaint!! It does not keep her asleep - she will still wake up in the early morning hours, but at least she is abe to fall asleep. No side effects or lasting grogginess. I gave to my husband after travelling across the country through time zones as my reading said that it also helps with jetlag. He said it did wonders and he will use for travel regularly.

First I should tell you my previous sleeping habits. It normally takes me 1-2 hours to officially go to sleep. When I wake up, I feel very tired and can barley get up. The last dream I can remember was when I was like 8 and im 19 now. I've tried several pills and they never seemed to work.

I stumbled on Melatonin - Time Released. I take one pill at night, i'm asleep within 20 mins. That was what I been looking for, something to help me go to sleep. Laying down with your eyes closed for 1-2 hours is annoying. Sometimes I don't even go to sleep because it takes too long. When using this, I wake up with energy....another plus. I don't stay there laying down, eyes barley open, letting time go away. Im up in 8 hours fresh. These pills work, and i'm happy I found these bad boys. Not only that they are very cheap.

About the dreams, Melatonin solved that. I can remember my dreams now, and this helps, being that I want to write movie scripts. I'm so glad that I found these, especially at this time. I'm starting college soon and if I didn't find these my sleeping habits will effect my learning.

Try them its cheap, and works.
