5.0 out of 5 stars Great food for a picky eater or those with digestive issues!, March 14, 2009

Our Himalayan cat is an extremely picky eater. To add to this she has intestinal trouble with many foods (diarrhea, vomiting). We only feed her quality foods with no grains or fillers, and this narrows our selection down quite a bit, knocking out most grocery store brands.

We initially tried Wellness and apparently it was too rich for her with all the additional unnecessary ingredients (squash, zucchini etc?) Then we tried the Natural Balance DUCK and pea, and she hated the taste and texture, which was extremely mushy. We then put her on this Venison flavor, and she absolutely loves it and the more meaty texture. She is enthusiastic every time she eats. She loves the dry as well.

I would highly recommend this food to anyone, especially those who have a cat with a sensitive digestive system. Not only is it a healthy grain free, artificial/dye free food, but it is also a limited ingredient food, meaning pets with food allergies or bowel problems are more likely to tolerate it. And it's very reasonably priced!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good brand for cat with allergies, April 27, 2009
This review is from: Natural Balance Venison Green Pea Formula Cat Food (Pack of 24 6-Ounce Cans) (Misc.)
I have fed my 4 cats Natural Balance Venison & Green Peas 6 oz. wet food for abt. 2 years or so. They are all abt. 9 years old. I split one can 4 ways in am and pm. I started because one cat seemed to be allergic to chicken by-products. She licked her stomach raw. The vet recommended food like duck or venison. When I started feeding them the Venison she stopped licking as much. Her stomach hair grew back. They all seem to like it. I give them a duck dry food to supplement. They have no health problems. I think higher quality food helps prevent illness and they have glossy coats. I would recommend it.

This review is from: Natural Balance Venison Green Pea Formula Cat Food (Pack of 24 6-Ounce Cans) (Misc.)
I got this food for my cat because he was throwing up, and at the time we thought it was the food he was eating. He stopped doing that for quite a while before this arrived, so apparently it wasn't the food. We decided to see how he felt about this food, as we had already bought it and sure didn't want to waste the money on it.
A lot of people here say their cat loves this food (this flavor at least, I can't speak for others. I really wish they had a variety pack..). At first my cat seemed to hate it. He wouldn't go near it, and after giving him no alternative, he would begin to paw at it. I was dismayed, because as I said, we paid for this already (and it's not expensive, but it's certainly not the cheapest..) and didn't want it to go to waste. So, we started experimenting. When some was put on his nose, he licked it, and seemed to like it, but when going for more, he was again repulsed. He seemed very confused by this. It turns out he can't stand the smell of the stuff, but likes the flavor. We started mixing it with one of his old foods, and he was quite happy with this. Eventually after a week or so, I decided to give it to him without the mix, and he ate it with no complaints. I guess he just got used to it! So, I mainly wrote this review because I saw (in some other reviews for this brand of food) that people say their cats hate it. Don't throw it out yet, it could just be the smell!
I don't like giving this amount of stars, because it really seems like a quality product. But I can't very well give it a glowing review if it didn't meet the needs for which it was purchased!
