They were originally designed to be used on salad bars where fruit flies can be a huge problem. We needed them for a food lab where syrups were being tested. Can't use regular insecticides, so we only had these to rely on. Considering the flies had the option of going to any of the syups that were in the lab, I was completely amazed when after only a few days the fruit fly problem was completely irradicated. We have bought these several times over the past 20 years and can't express how happy we have been with the results.

I have a compost bucket in my kitchen and it was surrounded by fruit flys. I put one of these traps out and the next day there were only a couple of them still flying around. A day later, none. I have been using them now for years and I rarely see a fruit fly in my kitchen.

I was in doubt too after reading a few negative reviews so I used heavy duty garden scissors to open the trap and see for myself if there were indeed dead fruit flies. After 6 weeks of being near our fruit bowl the trap was FILLED with fruit flies ~ too many to count! These traps are easy and they work... and I don't have to fool with lemons or vinegar or homemade concoctions.

We have had one of these in our kitchen for the past couple of years. I rarely see a fruit fly even though we have fresh produce and a compost bucket in our kitchen.

Natural fruit fly trap did work and removed most of the fruit flies. It is basically apple cider vinegar in a container trap.

Easy to use and effective. Just place it near your problem area and the flies were gone in a few days. I also removed my bananas for a few days so the fruit flies would go to the trap...

This trap doesn't work very well and I don't think you should waste your money on it. It smells like vinegar and the flies are still near our fruit

I read a lot of reviews before buying this and while it came highly recommended, it didn't catch a single fly. Put it in our office kitchen right next to the area where the fruit is stored, and had a second one on my desk (since they come in packs of two). Both traps have been out for 2 weeks and haven't had a single success. I'm back to the old vingegar-and-dish-soap trick. Was hoping to find something a bit less unsightly since it's for a corporate office but unfortunately it's the only thing that seems to work (I also went on a separate site and ordered a glue-based trap that was exactly as successful as this one. Save your money--home made traps may be ugly, but they're the only things that work).
