This might be TMI, but at 47, sex had become increasingly painful for the last year. Despite applying lubrication, sex hurt and I'd often experience small tears that took days to heal. After using this cream for only one or two days, my hubby and I "got busy" with no discomfort! This continued for about three months until we went camping for three days and forgot my Smoky Mountain. Ouch. I'll never make that mistake again.

I've never experienced hot flashes or mood changes or other peri/menopausal symptoms so I can't comment on any of that. But for my issue, it's been amazing.

I am writing my review in hopes that my experience will be of help to other women out there. I am a forty-five years old and had one of my ovaries removed three years ago due to a fibroid. In recent months, I feel like I'm going through a 'second adolescence.' My body has been thrown into an early tizzy of perimenopausal symptoms. It was terrible, sleep wasn't something I was getting, some arid-ness below and started to make sex a little painful (wtf?) plus I discovered what this 'brain fog' thing means, and worse of all, my moods were making me feel so poo poo and lop-sided.
My doctor gave me some free samples of Elestrin that I loved but insurance didn't cover topical estrogen and cost me $150 per dispenser that would last only a month. My pockets aren't that deep... I did my homework and started Emerita progesterone two months ago. The first month I felt somewhat better but noticed I didn't feel the cream itself was making the best of benefits. Last month I developed a week's worth of truck-stomping cramps, that was a long time to be taking Advil. Then I read I should balance my progesterone use with estrogen. Viola, I discovered THIS product and have only been using this going on three weeks! Upon the first application (under my forearms) I felt a difference, I felt a lift/shift almost immediately. Can you believe it? Yes, my body is the sensitive sort but I definitely noticed a difference in my mood.
I have read on other Amazon reviews that ladies apply this to their face. Well, I've started that too. I can also tell you that it seems as though my laugh lines are plumping back out. Seriously, stupid good! The scent is 'neutral' and I wouldn't say it smells like flowers or anything... well- maybe ripened- two-day old flowers.. Yet I think the scent doesn't linger and absorbs quickly.
For my third week in using these two creams in conjunction with a smidgeon of 5htp in the morning, I am mostly me again! I still have night sweats (stopped taking my New Phase this month hoping the creams would be enough.. and they're not..) This product is almost like 'crack in a jar' for peri-menopausal women. Can't wait til my laugh lines puff back out! Can't wait to use more of this stuff tomorrow when I wake up!
Ladies, I know these changes in our bodies aren't easy and who really gives a hootin' nannie until it's her turn? I've just read somewhere that we live twice as long as we ever did in the human race. Therefore, we all need a little help with hormone supplements as we grow older. I now understand why many women seem more 'batty' as they age and why many a men become curmudgeons.. We may be suffering hormone deficiencies and not even know it! (That's what my mom said and she's so right!)
At the risk of sounding a little like a lune, I hope what you read was useful. I can't wait to see what more this little jar can do?
THANK YOU, Smoky Mountain Naturals, for being invented and helping my body and my mind!

I am 58 and people have always told me that I appear 15-20 years younger than I am. The last few years have been very stressful for me and I suddenly began looking every bit as old as I am, and maybe even older, with sagging skin and deep nasal labial lines and forehead lines. Plastic "refreshing" procedures were out of the question.

My initial reason for researching and deciding to try estriol was because sex has become painful and I can't afford to go to doctors and purchase prescription stuff. I have been putting up with hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, panic attacks, etc etc, for many years but painful intercourse was the final straw! In my research I came across information about it being good for aged skin as well as menopausal symptoms and thought "yeah right."

Ladies, and anyone else who is interested, this stuff has worked on all fronts. After four months of daily use my skin texture has improved, it has less sag and more plumpness, the lines are less deep and I can't even really remember the last time I had a hot flash or a night sweat. No brain fog, more energy. Ummm the original reason for trying it is gone too. ;)

I now say, YEAH! HELL YEAH!

I'm sorry if this will be a long review, but trust me, it's worth it. I was searching for a product that would help me with vaginal dryness/tearing/bleeding, and came across this product. Now I have to add in that I have suspected that I have had a hormonal imbalance for quite some time, makes sense, as I have had multiple pelvic surgeries over my lifetime, including losing one ovary, I'd bet good money the other one doesn't work well either. I mentioned it to my doctor, asking for testing. In fact, I asked two separate GYN docs, two Internal Medicine docs and one PA. Not a single one of them took me seriously enough to test me, that's how bad healthcare is for women, but I digress. When I heard that this cream treats more of the symptoms of a hormonal imbalance, well, I had to try it. Before I get into what worked and what didn't, let me say that I gave it maybe 3 weeks, and when I didn't see a whole lot of difference (yet) I went ahead and got their progesterone cream as well. So my review will be from using both products together.

First, the vaginal dryness. I was tearing every single time I had sex. Every time. Tore and bled and it took me a good week or more to heal. I was examined by two different GYN docs, both said the tissue looked healthy, it couldn't be atrophy, and that I needed "better lube." Ladies, I have tried everything under the sun, lube wise, including organic coconut oil and jojoba oil. That's not it. I had one idiot GYN tell me the tearing was just "skin tags" in the area that had to be removed. OMG, the pain with that procedure, and yet, didn't fix it. I was so frustrated. So I got this cream. And did what it said. Now it does recommend 7-10 days for this issue. After 10 days, I did see an improvement. The tear was smaller and didn't bleed as bad. But I was bound and determined to make this work so I stuck with it. It took maybe 3 weeks, 4 at the most, before the tearing and irritation was gone. Yup, GONE. No more pain for me. I can't say this saved my marriage, because I have the most patient, loving husband on the planet, he had no plans to leave me for this reason (and if some guy will leave you over this, then ladies, you are truly better off without him. Good riddance, find a good man to love you no matter what, for better or worse, sickness and health). Try it for the dryness/atrophy. And if it doesn't work in 10 days, don't give up, it may just take you a little bit longer than others. That's okay. As long as it works. And in the meantime, I got a little tip from a Clear Passage therapist for the tears: get yourself some Desitin. Works like a charm, it will heal you in a couple days and will provide a barrier when urinating. In my research of vaginal atrophy, women complain of yeast like infection symptoms: itching, burning, etc., as well as chronic symptoms of bladder infections, it's all the same issue for us. All the docs will tell you is to wipe front to back (duh, right?), tell you to switch to non scented laundry detergent, wear cotton panties, don't use soap, on and on. Tried it all, it's BS, they have no clue what's going on so they make inane suggestions and tell you it's all in your head. It's not. Get some of this cream, it will help. And stick with it. Oh, and for extra added measure, when I applied the cream vaginally (yes, to the outer vagina and a bit internally, pretend you are wiping or applying an external vulvar cream, same difference, it isn't an exact science so don't worry too much about application there) I massaged it into the area where I always tore (6:00 for me). Doing that few second massage seemed to bump up the healing time for me.

On to the other symptoms: since taking this, my hot flashes are almost non-existent. I'm serious. There are moments I start to get a bit warm, kick off the covers, and...nothing. No sweats. No suffocating feeling. No flash at all. If I do get anything, it's very minor and only lasts maybe less than a minute. It works. Sleeping: yes, using both creams, in a few weeks I was sleeping a LOT better. I used to struggle to fall asleep, just when I did, like clockwork, I'd wake up within an hour, out of a dead sleep, like I was jolted awake. Heart racing, sometimes shaking, and couldn't go back to sleep. I don't do that anymore. Do I sometimes wake in the night? Sure, don't we all? But not like I used to, and i can usually go right back to sleep. These creams are phenomenal.

As far as a face cream, etc., I can't say it has done much for me in that respect. I have terminal dark circles, it's done nothing for that. It may work for you, give it a try. Smoky Mountain Naturals state on their website that they are working on a face cream with the Estriol, I'm hoping to try it when it comes out. I did try it for dark spots on my hands and face, nothing there either. It says to use 1/4 teaspoon, and the reviews are correct: there is a LOT of product in 1/4 tsp. I have done almost a body thing with it: all over my face, wrists and hands, some on either my stomach or thighs, a dab on the ankles, and still have plenty for the vaginal area. If you are unsure of how much to use, Smoky Mountain Naturals does sell a 1/4 tsp measuring spoon on their site for a buck, go buy one, it helped me so I didn't have to guess.

It seems like it has helped with my mental fogginess, fatigue and energy, either that or it's because I'm sleeping better. Not a miracle cure for me, but I do suffer from Adhesion Related Disorder that I am having treatment for, so I am not the perfect patient to gauge that. But it is an improvement. Mood too, I believe (again, with the progesterone cream too).

I didn't notice any difference in facial hair, sorry.

This cream has a nice texture, very light smell, a little goes a long way and it is a miracle cream. Will I buy it again? You bet your sweet bippy I will. I already have, and I'm gearing up to buy more. Ladies, don't hesitate, and don't fret, this product is amazing. Try it. But don't judge hastily until you've used it at least a month, maybe two, for full benefits, but for the vaginal area, give that at least 3-4 weeks, and use Desitin in the interim. This stuff is amazing. You owe it to yourself to at least try it, and find some relief.

UPDATE: I am sad to report that the creams stopped working. Hot flashes came back, and it wasn't doing what it had before for my vaginal tearing. My therapist suggested that I may need to have a doctor adjust my dose of the creams, however, I wasn't working with a doctor on this (I can't find one that will prescribe bio identical hormones for me.) So if it stops working for you, checking with a holistic type doctor may be the answer.

HOWEVER: If you take these creams, and they aren't helping with the vaginal tearing, do yourself a favor: Read up on pelvic floor physical therapy. What most doctors don't know (and would probably never tell you if they did) is that many women have their vaginal/pelvic floor muscles in perpetual spasm, and that can be a HUGE part of the tearing/bleeding. Where does it come from? Many sources: having children, repeated pelvic surgeries, any kind of trauma to the area (sexual trauma is one big one). But it can be fixed. If you can get a doctor to prescribe pelvic floor therapy, with an expert in the field, they work to help those muscles release the spasm, then work to strengthen the muscles again. No, Kegels won't do it, in fact, Kegels will make the problem worse. (Funny, that's just what every doctor prescribes for any female problem: Kegels. Go figure.) Spasm in that area can also cause incontinence. How many women accept that they're "getting older" as a reason for leaking urine? Nope. Not it. All of this works together to create the problems that we women face. There is hope. And help. Don't give up, ladies. Don't just take this as a sign of age and quit trying. There are answers for us.

Anyhow, these creams are good, and I hope they keep working for you. As for me, I'm giving therapy a try (and it is working), and I may go back on the creams to see if that helps with hormonal imbalances.

I used to pay $78 a month to my compound pharmacist. What a godsend to find your store. I am 68 and have been on bio- identical hormones for 15 years. No one believes my age because I have so much energy and no aches or pains. Sexually I am better than I was at 45. I can only attribute it to bio- identicals and Suzanne Somers

This is effective for vaginal dryness WHEN APPLIED TO VAGINAL AREA . It helps with preventing painful sex and bladder infections that can occur as a result of dryness and vaginal atrophy . It is CHEAP compared to big pharma's synthetic option . A win/ win !

I ordered 3 months ago and am now ordering it again but waited to write my review so I knew if it worked or not. I can tell you that it worked wonders for me. I am going to be blunt and honest here because that's why I ordered it.... from reading blunt and honest reviews of women that was going through the same things as me. So here it goes. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago when I was 27 years old, so here I was at 32 years old.... hot flashes, night sweats, moody and the worst thing of all was very painful intercourse. It just wasn't happening and reeking havoc on my marriage! I did not want to take Estridol due to family history of breast cancer, it didn't help anyway and I wanted to try something natural. I bought the Estro-Life and the Progestro-Life. Using them combine is a must, you don't want to make yourself Estrogen Dominant. My hot flashes went away 100% within 3 weeks. No more night sweats and I was no longer mean. Best of all within 6 weeks intercourse was no longer painful. My husband is very happy, as am I, and he also noticed a huge change. He said my skin feels softer, my hair no longer is falling out and is very healthy along with my nails and I am happy that my body odor is also now non existent. Without hormones I swear I felt like a man after a tough day at work or gym...... Constant showers!!! If you have any of these problems (Hot Flashes, Night sweats, Moody, Body odor, hair loss and painful Intercourse) these products are well worth the money and a shot to see if it works for you. It changed my life!! Word of advise though.... if it works, don't run out as all your symptoms come back very quickly. I ran out and within 3 days my hot flashes where back with a vengeance.

I am 60 & youthful looking, but I was beginning to dislike the pallor & thinness of my facial skin. I am on my second jars of estriol & progesterone which I apply directly to face & neck. Today someone asked if I'd had "work" because of the radiance, tautness, & renewed look of my face! It also helps with the mild personal dryness that has set in the last 2 yrs. or so. My skin has returned to that peaches & cream look it once had. If you're not using it, then it's time you started!
