I have read a number of books on facial exercise - since hitting 30 I suddenly realised my face really was changing and I was losing the looks of youth I had come to take for granted. 3.0 out of 5 stars Natural Face Lift
I found this book to be a bit difficult to grasp in the begining. I bought the book for the actual facial excercises, but I felt like that portion of the book fell a little short of my expectations. The author is a "naturalist" at heart, and while that is all good and well, I did not agree with some of her statements about not wearing make-up and not using skin...

I have read a number of books on facial exercise - since hitting 30 I suddenly realised my face really was changing and I was losing the looks of youth I had come to take for granted. This one is more subtle and comprehensive than most. At first it seemed a little complicated, and the exercises were the most difficult of any I have come across, but with perseverence the results have been remarkable. I look better at 35 than I did at 25. I look my age - the book is not a time machine- but my face has contour, lift, fullness and sparkle. My husband truly and sincerely thinks I am better looking now than 10 years ago. I'm more in my face. I know my face better, I move it better, it (so I am told) radiates health.

This is not a quick fix. Some of the exercises will suit and others won't. Go with those that do. The author was a ballet teacher and the exacting principles of posture and perfection, combined with an Alexander Technique for the face are what you get.

If you've never done any face exercises I'd recommend Carole DiMaggio's book first. It will get you in touch in a basic way with your face muscles and strengthen them. But this is the thoroughbred of facial toning books. Give it 10 minutes a day and THERE WILL BE CHANGE.

It stands to reason - if Pilates, Yoga, Ballet and Alexander work for the body, then an equivalent system of exercise for the face will bring grace and vibrance to it. That's what this book offers. Buy it if all that sounds right to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Natural Facelift by Juliette Kando has made me look younger., August 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
If you can tone up your stomach, you can tone up your face. Since I started doing the subtle exercises in the Natural Facelift, my face looks fitter and happier and my friends have complemented me on how well I look. They ask me if I am in love or if I have been on holiday. It's a great book and I strongly recomend it to anyone who is afraid of losing their looks through premature ageing.

I found this book to be a bit difficult to grasp in the begining. I bought the book for the actual facial excercises, but I felt like that portion of the book fell a little short of my expectations. The author is a "naturalist" at heart, and while that is all good and well, I did not agree with some of her statements about not wearing make-up and not using skin cleansers and moisturizers unless they were all natural, home made remedies. Most people do not have the time nor the inclination to go and search for the ingredients to some of the concoctions she talks about. I think she could have been a little more detailed with the facial exercise portion of the book and maybe a little less detailed with other parts. The book is ok, if you have the time to read and re-read it a few times. I do believe you will benefit from the exercises she teaches, but you will need to take quite a bit of time to learn them correctly. More illustrations would have been a big help. It is always nice to see photos with the exact details of the movements. I would highly recomend trying the book Face Building. I bought this book before Natural Face Lift. Face Building is one of the best ones I have seen and I have seen a lot of these books. I am 37 years old and have done a lot of research in this field. Try Face Building first, and you will be happy you did. It is well worded, easy to understand, and beautifully illustrated. By the way, since I own both books, I use a combination of both and I love the results!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely useless!!, January 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
I am convinced that the reviews in this section were written by the author or her friends, because this book is useless--a huge pot pourri of miscellaneous tired old suggestions, organized (and I use the term loosely) in way that no one could follow unless they quit their job & did nothing else--it would be easier to get a REAL facelift than it is to try to follow this book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best !, July 9, 2002
By
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
My best friend gave me Juliette Kando's NATURAL FACELIFT for my birthday saying it had helped her and I should try it. I had noticed that she had been looking fresher and younger lately and now she told me how she had done it. 'You just read the book and get into doing the exerises' she said so I did. That was three weeks ago and I have never looked back. The thing that worried me most was that I was beginning to get bags under my eyes. I looked up the exercises for it and they really work. My eyes are more open as well now. I also had deep neck wrinkles and they have all gone now. Brilliant! The exercises are easy to follow and the author encourages you all the way. Well, with the excellent results, you just don't want to stop. People have been complementing me, asking me if I'm in love or if I've been on holiday because I look so much more happy and relaxed and, yes, younger. I want to strongly recommend this book to anyone who is worrried about losing their looks. It also lifts your morale because the practise works on a psychological level as the author says and I find that to be very true. Doing Juliette Kando's facial exercises is much better (and cheaper) than going for cosmetic surgery which, like Kando says, only damages your skin. So hurry, go and buy the NATURAL FACELIFT by Juliette Kando and enjoy, it really is a brilliant book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why are all the reviewers named Charlotte?, August 25, 2004
By
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
I am in the market for a book on this topic, but too many of these reviews seem faked up -- multiple reviews by Charlotte from London; exact same wording submitted under different names. At this point, I don't care if the book is any good or not -- your overkill has cost you a sale.

1.0 out of 5 stars TOO MUCH ADVICE NOT RELATED TO THE FACE, March 19, 2003
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
I too bought Natural Facelift based on all the positive reviews here. The book is extremely difficult to follow as one has to sift through so much bable to get to the exercises. The photos and instructions are inadequate to say the least. Ms. Kando also gives some unqualified and very bizaare advice for self dental treatment! This book is worthless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and fun to do with excellent results., December 2, 2001
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
A few months ago my wife said that I was getting old. I am 45. When I looked in the mirror I noticed that she was right, my face was hanging almost like a bulldog and I noticed many wrinkles below my eyes and around my mouth. I told a friend about it in the pub after a few drinks and he suggested I buy Juliette Kando's Natural Facelift. 'But men don't do that sort of thing' I said to him. 'You'd be surprised' he replied. So I went and got the book and began doing the exercises. Not too difficult, they are explained in detail and illustrated so I soon got the hang of it. Now that I have been doing them regularly, and learning the more advanced ones, I am very pleased with the results. My face has fewer wrinkles and looks fitter and happier. My wife noticed the difference in my face and has now also started doing the Natural Facelift exercises. We recommend it to anyone who wants to age gracefully.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Comprehensive, March 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
I just purchased this book yesterday at a bookstore and read it cover to cover. I found it fascinating, and I am glad that she included a lot of additional material about posture, etc. I think that is a better approach than simply outlining some exercises. I don't yet know if I'll get results from this as I haven't tried the exercises yet. I agree with the reviewer above that there should have been more pictures used to explain some of the movements. I'm hoping that I can figure them out with just the written descriptions. I'd welcome a discussion with anyone else who has used the exercises with success. Good luck to us all!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth Your Money, October 16, 2005
By
MonkeyC (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Natural Facelift (Paperback)
I also am wondering if all the positive reviews are legitimate. I went to the bookstore to check it out & found the book to be fairly useless. Lots of text & needless exercises for the body. The few exercises listed for the face had unclear photos that are not very helpful. I say save your money or you might be very disappointed.
