5.0 out of 5 stars Another great one
Well De Phazz has put out another great one. This band puts every style into the mix but has a sound all its own. This one is a little less dub and a little more gospell but it swings, every song is a keeper. Its cool lounge similar to Death by chocolate . The recording sounds great but better to play it on a larger system then a boom box this Cd is packed with sound and...

2.0 out of 5 stars De-Phazz - Natural Fake
NATURAL FAKE kicks off with "Un Ange Passe" which slinks back to De-Phazz's easy-listening jazz roots, but the album quickly slips into a pleasant mediocrity after that. Oh, there are bright spots, like the perky "Astrud Astronette" (even though the lyrics are rather silly) or "Depression Royale," which harkens back to the glory of GODSDOG. But even the usually-excellent...

After their first 3 albums, their sound has slowly evolved from the past-popular electronic down tempo to almost full on house. Gorgeous vocals w/ a bit of funk & bossa over a nice slow beat. Still like them - but much different from detunized gravity, et al.

5.0 out of 5 stars NATURALLY FAKIN' IT!!!, May 30, 2006
This review is from: Natural Fake (Audio CD)
De-Phazz's oxymoronically titled "Natural Fake" is a cocktail of neo-modern lounge, jazz, funk, soul and r&b. This German group has marvellously evolved the "lounge-sounds" they delivered on the classics "Death By Chocolate" and "Godsdog" with catchy hooks, quirky samples and gorgeous vocals from both male and female. There's 18 songs listed--a bit gluttonous to most--but at least the songs don't meander, and manage to keep your attention from beginning to end. True fans of De-Phazz will appreciate this new sound and not expect a repeat of their previous material. Highly Recommended!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars De-Phazz - Natural Fake, September 9, 2011
This review is from: Natural Fake (Audio CD)
NATURAL FAKE kicks off with "Un Ange Passe" which slinks back to De-Phazz's easy-listening jazz roots, but the album quickly slips into a pleasant mediocrity after that. Oh, there are bright spots, like the perky "Astrud Astronette" (even though the lyrics are rather silly) or "Depression Royale," which harkens back to the glory of GODSDOG. But even the usually-excellent Barbara Lahr has her vocals flattened on "Eternity Is..." (though she also redeems "Multicoloured Destiny"). There are small moment of surprise too, like the French lyrics and banjo plucking on "Excursion En Mer," but overall, pleasingly forgettable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Although Slightly Different, De|Phazz Stay Loyal to Fans, December 5, 2005
This review is from: Natural Fake (Audio CD)
De|Phazz is a German based outfit performing a unique blend of Jazz, Soul, Blues, Electronica-Downbeat and Sixty's Swing to create a wonderfully smooth 'hip' sound. Natural Fake is a large eighteen track album and is the latest in the De|Phazz collection. It is packed with tracks, and like the first two releases Godsdog and Death By Chocolate, is filled with a variety of De|Phazz stylings.

Blues and Soul are explored much more extensively in De|Phazz's latest release. There are quite a few tracks with harmonica and saxophone parts. This said however, there is still great emphasis on more up beat, Jazz influenced cuts with great vocals in both English and French.

This is the De|Phazz I remember and I'm very pleased to see them stay loyal to their original sound. This unique cocktail of Jazz, Soul, Blues, Electronica-Downbeat, and Sixtys Lounge Swing continues to create that De|Phazz sound in Natural Fake.

Although not a fan of the Blues (Especially the harmonica and Blues saxophone), I'm happy to see the band exploring new teritory with their latest album.

Although exploring new sounds, De|Phazz have kept loyal to the fans of their first two albums. 'Mambo Craze' is revisited with the album's final track 'Garbo Goodbye' and is a fantastic addition to the Natural Fake mix.

With this I recommend any De|Phazz album. My personal favourites are the first two: GODSDOG & DEATH BY CHOCOLATE. If you are already a De|Phazz fan, you won't be dissapointed by their latest release.

Beautifully bouncy for a party or by the pool, listen and soak up the electric and fun atmosphere that is DE|PHAZZ.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not the De Phazz I remember, June 26, 2005

I've just got this album yesterday, after I listen to it, I gotta say it's JUST NOT the de phazz that I like from " Godsdog " and " Death by chocolate ", this album is totally blank and has no tastes, compared to the above two albums that full with contents and colors... so if you really like de phazz or want to try it , go to the album in 1999 and 2001..

This review is from: Natural Fake (Audio CD)
