Very comfortable, easy gliding,
This review is from: Natural Glider/Ottoman Combination with Beige Fabric (Baby Product)
I am very happy with this glider. I have had it for nearly one year and haven't had any problems with it. I use it for about an hour each day. It is very cosy. I fit in it well now, but when I was nine months pregnant and 30 pounds heavier, I was just able to squeeze between the arms. Once in the chair, it does not take much to glide back and forth. You can push off of the floor or with your feet on the ottoman. Either way is very comfortable. The fabric on the cushions isn't the softest, but I have a plush blanket thrown over the back to add to the nursery decor. When my son was young, he fit easily in my arms and I used the chair arms for support while holding him. Now that he's older, he nestles comfortably in my lap for relaxing gliding. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Decent glider for the price,

This glider has been great for us. We didn't want to spend a lot, but wanted comfort. It's not luxury, but it's held up really well. We have 14 month old twins and have spent A LOT of time rocking in this chair! :) If the seat isn't soft enough, you could always put a seat cushion down but we haven't needed to. I do wish it could recline just a little or not sit so upright, because my neck hurts sometimes after falling asleep while rocking! :)

Cheaper isn't always better. This glider was fine until it broke in less than a year. I weigh 140lbs and use it 20 minutes a day, it should be able to last longer than 11 months!!!!

Structural FAILURE,

First, at 12 months, we thought the screws stripped, but actually the metal in the locking nut failed. It sheared in half. So we bought two more bolts and fixed it. Now the wood piece in the back of the seat part, that holds the back to the base broke lengthwise in half.I called Jardine Enterprises numerous times and never received a response. This chair and ottoman are now 300 dollars worth of rubbish. I'm furious I paid so much for barely a year worth of chair. If I have another child, I'll have to buy a new glider. This only lasted for one baby.

comfortable ... but disposable,
This review is from: Natural Glider/Ottoman Combination with Beige Fabric (Baby Product)
I thought this chair was very comfortable but it only lasted a year. Astonishingly, the company doesn't offer any replacement parts (springs or cushions). The arm cushions were enjoyable but they wore quickly.

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT buy this chair. My Husband's grandmother bought this chair for us. I picked it out because it was cheap and matched the furniture for the room. Well slowly things came apart the arms started spreading screws became loose, and as of 2 weeks ago the back started coming loose and the screws are falling out. the holes have gotten so big fromt he screws that you can't put it back together.I have used the chair a lot our daughter was a very fussy infant, but I will never buy another chair like this again. The next chair I invest in will last through her and any other children we have. Cheaper is not always better.

Terrible Glider,
By
This review is from: Natural Glider/Ottoman Combination with Beige Fabric (Baby Product)
We bought this 1 month before our baby was born and before he was 2 months old it started to squeek and now it creaks and pops (he is 3 months old now). We have to keep adjusting the bolts which works for about an hour before it starts making those awful noises again. Makes it hard to relax while holding the baby. Not to mention the cushions are horribly uncomfortable that we ended up putting a bed pillow on it to sit down. The ottoman is also falling apart. It is truly worth spending more on a better rocker! This one is getting tossed!

Loudly sqeaking Pivot points of the rocker,
By
This review is from: Natural Glider/Ottoman Combination with Beige Fabric (Baby Product)
Ok, here it is right a year since our daughter has be born AND since we bought this glider and ottoman. The ottoman I haven't had a issue with BUT the glider is a TOTALLY different story. The short of it; The metal pins the go through holes to make the pivot points ride against the wood itself. The Long of it; Over time that section inside the drilled hole that the pin/bolt rides against in the wood get worn down (or burnt if you can relate to that) or something because it squeaks when you rock back to a stop and go forward and squeaks when you rock forward to a stop and go back. This might be due to the type of wood used as all the rockers that I have seen have this type of pivot setup. What I wanted to do is buy some sort of wax based plastic collar or metal collar, drill the current pivot hole to the size of the collar, insert the collar in the hole and put the pin/bolt through the collar. BUT without jeopardiznig the integrity of the glider. THAT is my first reaction. I'm in the process of talking to Jardine to resolve this issue. I was at work when I called and they asked me for the model number of the chair, I didn't have it. My suggestion to you is if you are looking to get a glider check these issues:1. Ask questions about the pivot point, do they use pin against wood, or is there something like ball bearings out there? 2. Do your research concerning recalls/defects on assymbly of the glider and the pivot points. 3. If you have to get the Pin to wood pivot points, then try to find a wood that won't wear like this one and squeak badly. IF you can avoid getting a glider that used the pin/bolt that is pushed through the holes of the wood AND the pin/bolt rides against the wood, do avoid it. Pay the higher price and get one that is not assymbled like this (if possible that is), you'll thank yourself later, TRUST ME :D. It WILL squeak very loudly over time. I promise you. I'm 35 years old and pretty mechanically encligned, I'm not writing this review to speak badly of Jardine, I just want something that is going to last. We bought our glider from Babys R Us for pretty penny, 300+ at the time. Figured it would be better built than that...... OK here is a follow up to the issue. As soon as I called them they asked for model number that was taped to the under side of the seat. Once I told them that the pivots squeak extremely badly they simply stated they are going to send a new base. The representative didn't know what changes they made, hopefully it is not the same type of pivot setup. Although the service was quick and efficient, Customer Service obviously cares about the customer and their product to send a new base free of charge. I also really like the high arm rest. When you in the rocker rocking your little one, your not slumping or anything when you rest your arm on the rest and baby lays perfectly in your arms. The back rest leaves some desiring, my back gets to hurting after rocking for a while.

It's ok.... for a short period of time!,

I recieved this chair and ottoman combo as a baby shower gift. I loved it, that is until it fell apart. I'm only 5'2" and 140lbs. I used it when I fed my now 6 month old son and to rock him to sleep. It started to make this rubbing noise and then the chair just fell apart. As I was rocking the metal parts that make it glide started to shave themselves smooth and they just slid out of their gooves. When that happened, thank god I wasn't holding my son at the time, the chair basically collapsed inward on me. I'm alright, but trust me spend the extra money and go buy a good quality Amish made glider. Thats what I did!

NOT COMFY,

This review is from: Natural Glider/Ottoman Combination with Beige Fabric (Baby Product)
My daughter is a squirmer, and she was always arching her back and hitting her head on the wood on the arms. Plus for my back it isn't cushioned enough. It does squeek and I am not a big person. It also tips very easily when I just lay some clothing over the back. I gave it 3 stars becasue it was cheap. But for my next baby I am investing in something else. You are worth it.
